Ok, I know I'm on a Glock forum but what the heck...

    I've narrowed down my 45 choices to a G30 standard sights at around $600 or a $499 at Cabela's online S&W Performance Center M&P Shield M2.0 45, Ported w/HiViz Fiber Optic Sights.
    Very tough decision for me.

I know prices are jacked up right now, but there is no way I'd pay $600 for any Glock unless it had new night sights and a LOT of extras. I haven't priced the S&W PC Shields so I can't comment on that price as being good or not.

If you don't need something right now, I'd wait till the prices come back down and/or look at the used market on sites like Armslist. Those prices are jacked up as well but you still find deals if you look around.

I agree with Deputydave about the prices right now.

IMHO - they are both fine pistols. Perhaps see which one fits your hand better. There is a considerable difference in grip width. Of course there are other factors to consider (ex. magazine capacity, concealability) but the grip difference is one that stands out to me. Good luck in your decision.

EDIT: I missed the ported description the first read. I agree with Gino about porting on a carry gun (not a fan). Just my 2 cents for what it's worth...….

Is it going to be a carry gun? There are reasons you shouldn't have porting on a carry gun.

I wouldn’t go ported. But that’s just me.

If I wasn’t so invested with Glock and use it at work, I would be a 2.0 guy.

It won't be a carry gun. Home and range.

Prices are way above average in my area, but I don't now where you're located. That being said, it is going to depend on what your going to be using it for.

If it's going to be used for home defense, not carry, I'd go with the one that holds more rounds. G30.

I'm sure you can find one cheaper than $600 from an online retailer.

I had an S&W Performance Center 9mm I sold to my brother. Nice gun but I preferred the Sig P365 I carry pocket and IWB and love the G26.
I like the capacity of the G30 but the S&W PC has fiber optic sights which I like and is $499.
Which one do you think has less recoil? Scotch00 on you tube said the G30 is very smooth with little recoil.

Ported is fine on a range in the daytime with good hearing protection on.
For carry, especially at night, not so good.

Glock, always. Better Engineering, easy to use, easy to dis-assemble and clean, easy to replace parts if need be, great customer service, and a massive aftermarket for Glock. Shop it out, you can find a better price online, and have a local FFL broker it for you for a small fee. Only prob right now is all the Dealers are out of stock on dang near everything pistol wise due to panic buying for C19, so finding what you want may be tough.

I am not an M&P fan any longer. And I am a registered S&W M&P Armorer. They are easy to field strip, but full dis-assembly will require you to beat the frame pins out of it w/ a punch and hammer! Aftermarket parts are thin. Getting better, but still not great. And no decent resale value, either.
I will tell you this: If you do decide to go w/ the M&P, do not immediately put an APEX trigger group in it. No need as the 2.0 has a trigger group designed by the S&W Custom shop, and w/ a little break in, they are very good.
    IMHO, anyway.:D

You can always place fiber optic sights on a G30. I agree with how comfortable the G30 is to shoot (ammo dependent of course).

If you are a GSSF member you are eligible for the member discount pistol purchase program. :)

Oh, and no ported! It doesn't really help all that much, and it can compromise your shooting up close and at night. A fad that is thankfully going out of style.

I just bought my first two Glocks in the last month. I love both.
I do like Glock.Performance Center triggers are very nice.
The virus, the riots and soon the election will keep guns out of stock and continue price gouging with in stock guns.

True. I had the Performance Center 9mm and all the ported did was make the gun dirtier.

I’m not a fan of subcompact 45 ACP. I had a G36 and it was snappy.

A Glock 30 is very controllable.

Another 45 ACP to consider is a CZ or FN FNX.
