    I've always wanted a 10 MM, but do love the .45 ACP with a passion, going back to my U.S. Army days in the late '60's. I currently own Glock models 26 & 36.

    Main use will be for long, 15 to 25 mile Everglades area trail walks, with large Gator and Python populations, and general self protection in "civilized" terrains.

    What do you think, GT?

    If you already have a 45 go with the 10mm. If you have neither I would get the 30 or even 30s since you love it with a passion.

    I like the 29 for its intended purpose....for me. I don’t carry it every day as an edc gun but I do use it as my sidearm when hunting. It’s without a doubt my most accurate Glock but not the accuracy of single action 686 or other revolvers but offers 10 rounds of Underwood if ever called upon.

    It is my hunting back up gun. Not ever my firearm of which I’d take a deer with but one that I have comfort knowing is there with me.

    Get the G30 and buy a 10mm conversion barrel. I didn't change anything but drop in the barrel and 10mm mag. Runs great - best of both.

    I really enjoy my 29 ... My buddy is in the process of getting a 29SF for woods carry ..
    The 10mm is a really good cartridge... Underwood makes it great !

    This post is very important for the conversion with the g30,

    https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/glock-30-30sf-30s-information.1421425/#post-18970140

    If you have some basic tools and dial caliper it is not hard,
    note this from that post,,

    ''Barrel manufacturer KKM Precision, Inc. recommends some minor gunsmith work on the stock .45 extractor that enables it to function more reliably for 10mm and continue to work for 45ACP. It involves removing no more than 0.020 inch from the 'fitting pad' on the inside of the .45 LCI extractor (see photo below) allowing it to travel closer to the axis of the bore and make solid contact with the 10mm case. Some who have studied this .45 extractor modification believe it functions better than the option of installing a stock 10mm extractor. It is best to modify a spare extractor in case of a problem.As material is filed from the fitting pad, test for proper tension of the extractor against a cartridge. With the slide removed from the frame, insert an empty 10mm case or dummy round underneath the extractor claw from the bottom of the slide. There should be some measurable tension being applied by the extractor claw to the cartridge. A dummy round should remain suspended by the inward force of the extractor.

    I made the modification to a spare .45 extractor and have been completely satisfied with the function and reliability for the factory ammo I prefer to carry. Underwood 220gr HC-FN 10mm ammo and 45ACP Speer Gold Dot 230gr JHP feed and cycle normally in rapid fire. Such is our confidence in the pistol, my gal uses the G30SF with modified .45 extractor and 45ACP factory barrel for EDC. She converts it to 10mm for woods protection with an extended length KKM 45-10mm conversion barrel (no longer offered by KKM). KKM can be contacted for advice and instructions before attempting this modification at (775) 246-5444

    [IMG]

    All the Gen3 and Gen4 Glock .45 ACP and 10mm pistols use the same ejector (marked 8196-2) so that is never an issue for the conversion.''

    ================================================

    Here is some tests I did with some 10mm UW ammo with some
    glocks, one is a g30 with a 4.6'' LW g29 extended barrel, yes,
    a G29 LW 10MM EXTENDED barrel in a g30, it has been more reliable
    and more accurate than both of the g20/3/4, and has the same
    power. Post #15.

    ===============================================
    https://www.glocktalk.com/threads/some-glock-20-questions.1647832/#post-23831429

    I have shot and chronoed the UW 180, 200 and 220gr in both the g20 SF and
    the gen4, they were all with the 800X powder.

    The 180gr TMJ, the stock SF had one nose down in the magazine jam in ten shots,
    fps was 1262, with the 6.6'' LW barrel and ten shots, no jams and 1364fps, with the
    gen 4 g20 fifteen shots no jams and 1270fps, with the g 30 and the g29 LW barrel
    no jams in ten shots and 1272fps, will get some more of this good stuff.

    The 200gr TMJ had three nose to left of chamber jams on the stock gen 4 in ten
    shots, ave fps was 1138fps, the stock SF had one nose to left of chamber
    in ten shots, fps 1146, with the 6.6''LW barrel, NO JAMS in 10 shots, fps 1221,
    with the g30 with the LW 4.6'' g29 barrel one nose down in the magazine jam,
    will not get this ammo any more, not enough power and jams.

    I did have a 22# RSA in the g30 and think the stock may have done better.

    With the UW 220gr cast in the SF G20 no jams and 1128fps and no smiles,
    gen4 g20 no jams, 1165fps and big smiles, not good, with the G30 with the
    LW g29 4.6'' barrel 1194fps with no jams and no smiles and super accurate,
    with the 6.6'' LW barrel 1230 fps no jams and no smiles.

    The OEM barrels leaded bad and I would not shoot them with the UW 220gr
    cast loads anymore.

    The LW barrels have been more reliable and more accurate than the stock
    barrels in both the g20 SF and the gen 4 and even in the G30 with the LW 4.6'' barrel

    I believe that the extra weight of the 6.6'' barrel slows the slide down
    enough to make the gun more reliable, JMHO
    ==================================================

    There is more info in that post, using 40 brass in 10mm barrels
    and some data to show what a 40 can do in longer barrels.

    I also have six inch barrels for the g30/29 in 10mm and 45 acp,
    they really get the power from the better loads.

    I don't like the glock barrels because I shoot mostly cast boolits
    and shoot them fast, that 220 UW load shot like crap in both
    g20/3/4 OEM barrels but shoot good in the LW barrels.
    ==============================================

    For those that want to shoot your 10mm/45acp/super/rowland
    cheap, here are some molds that will work, cheap is five to eight
    cents a shot.

    For the 40/10mm, mine fall from the mold at 183grs, they shoot
    great and I would use them for hunting,

    https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690690/6-cavity-mold-401-175-tc

    For the 45 acp,colt/casull, they work good in all three, even to 200 yards,

    https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690234/double-cavity-mold-452-200-rf

    https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690358/double-cavity-mold-452-255-rf

    Never shot this one at 200 yards, it has been very accurate at 30 yards,

    https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690290/double-cavity-mold-452-230-tc

    ===============================================

    I never use my g30 with the OEM barrel, I like the LW barrel better
    and it has case support into the extractor grove, if you get a good
    45 acp AM 4.6'' barrel and this mold,

    https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690234/double-cavity-mold-452-200-rf

    I bet you will not need a 10mm barrel, but get one because it adds
    many options.
    ==============================================

    Hope this is not too much info and not too confusing, if I can help,
    let me know.

    For wilderness carry it’s hard to beat a G20, it’s my woods/bow hunting gun. For the hot 10mm ammo that makes it a better choice over a .45 benifits greatly from a longer barrel and a larger gun for better control.
    I tried the 10mm conversion on my 30sf with a StormLake barrel and it wasn’t reliable. I believe it may have been a defective barrel that StormLake wouldn’t exchange.

    A little more BS to go along with the subject,
    that modified extractor works good with all calibers
    from, 9mm, 357sig, 40s&w, 10mm, 45 acp/super
    and rowland, I leave it in for all calibers. Only
    change barrels and magazines. Most of my barrels
    are six inches or longer, the extra length gives
    more velocity and the extra weight helps keep
    things locked up longer, a win win situation.

    The 10mm mags work for all calibers from 9mm
    to 10mm, not anything 45.

    If you shoot 9mm, you will need a weaker recoil
    spring, I use a SS guide rod and have many springs
    from 11lbs to 24lbs, for the G20/21.

    The good news with the g20/29 and g21/30 mags is,
    they will take a longer OAL, 1.250+''. That means you
    can load the shorter brass, 9mm, 357sig, 40s&w to
    some much better velocities for hunting.

    A 9mm loaded long, 1.250'', is a 38 super, a 40s&w becomes
    a 10mm, no more costly 10mm brass is needed.

    When the 9mm is loaded long and to its full potential,
    the OEM RSA will work. A good load is one of these
    boolits at around 1300 fps in the six inch barrel.

    They work in the 357 sig too.

    https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690321/double-cavity-mold-tl358-158-swc

    https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/0000690303/double-cavity-mold-358-158-rf

    You can use many of the 38/357 magnum boolits in the 9mm
    and 357 sig loaded long, cast boolits can be more forgiving
    than jacketed, and much cheaper, like four to ten cents a shot,
    depending.

    Here is some more boolits for the 40/10mm,

    I think this one is the best and would use it
    for most shooting in both cases, also for hunting,

    http://arsenalmolds.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=103

    This one is good too,
    http://noebulletmolds.com/NV/index.php?cPath=39_227&osCsid=437ckd7d0297rhvh6crbj6vt54

    The nice thing about the 180gr boolit is, you can
    load it around 900fps for fun and around 1400fps
    for hunting, in the six inch barrel.

    With a good cast WFN in this wt, it will penetrate
    great, just like a 158gr cast in a 357 magnum.

    Do you know about the 45 super or 460 Rowland?

    Both can beat the 10mm, not knocking the ten, it
    is just what is, more surface area to push on and
    more pressure to work with.

    They are all good but with a g21 you have the most
    options, I will probably cut one of my g20/21 grip
    to a g29/30.
