Oh and FWIW, I have a book called Medal of Honor, which lists the stories, names, etc. of every person to receive the MOH. Fantastic book!

Audie Murphy was and still is the baddest mofo. He didn't have just a singular moment of courage but many, many moments of courageous acts. He won every stinking medal of valor there is in the US Army ranging from the MOH all the way down to Bronze with V Device.

His autobiography of "To Hell and Back" didn't do him justice - if you were to read through it, you'd wonder what the big whoopdedoo was all about. That's how humble the man was. He downplayed his repeated heroism to nothingness.

#7 is ridiculous. Wounded 37 times and still kept going.

As much as I loved the read, the comments at the bottom make me want to punch Europeans in the face.

IIRC, shortly before his death in 1971, he was acquitted of charges of trying to kill a man in a fist fight. He told the judge "If I wanted to kill him, he'd be dead."

1SG Leonard Funk exhibiting typical eighty deuce attitude right there.

Oh and guys, let not start a service MOH rivalry.
These men are above that, it demeans their status and sacrifice.

All MOH recipients are beyond reproach, regardless of service.

I agree, all MOH recipients have dramatic stories, but Audie Murphy is bananas.
