I couldn't resist, I finally decided to give the GAP a try. I was looking for me a Subcompact for summer carry, and I picked up an OD Green G39 for $389 new in box :wow:

Im already ordering reloading supplies, but I cant seem to find a case length gage/trimmer for the .45 GAP. Found the Lee gage for the .45 ACP though.

I have a couple questions. I have a bunch of 45 ACP brass from my past 1911's. Can the ACP brass be cut down and then loaded in the GAP ? Would the 185gr Speer Gold Dots be the best weight for self defense ammo in this small pistol ?

Then, any of you guys have pics of OD Green G39's ?

    Thanks in advance !

Great choice. I am not into reloading, but the last thing you want to do is cut down ACP brass. They have different internal dimensions and reinforcements to handle the pressure in a shorter case. From what i understand, very bad news if you cut ACP down to fit GAP.

Go check out Bulldawgs forum in the Firearms forum. It is a GAP club. There is a ton of good information on the GAP there.

    have fun,

With these rock bottom prices on GAP's we might see a comeback from the brink. It's not my cup of tea but if a ton of people pick them up for peanuts the demand for ammo should make the manufacturers take notice.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking forward to give it a spin. I may end up trading my G23 for a 38 :D

I'll second that. Once I shot the GAP it was the antidote needed for my case of GAPAPHOBIA. I started with a 37, got a 38, and just purchased a 39. The round is a 10!

Dillon has a 45gap case gage. http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/content/p/9/pid/25548/catid/3/Dillon_Handgun_Case_Gages. You don't need to trim handgun brass.

GAP brass is not lengthened 45acp brass. Rims are different. Wall thickness at the base is different. Do not cut down acp brass for use in the GAP.

I use 230gr Rangers for SD in my G38. I wouldn't have any problem using the 185 Gold Dots though.

You will also find that the .45 GAP uses SMALL pistol primers. I have reloaded GAP with Bullseye powder and 185, 200, and 230 grain bullets. All work well.

How is recoil with the 230's ? Im going to reload my practice ammo, and use factory fodder for my self defense rounds.

    I like my GAP's!!!!! And I like my .45 ACP's ( I am issued a G30SF and G21SF ). I have a G38 and G39, Looking at a G37. I carry my G39 off duty.
I have conversed with a couple of the PSP troopers here. They seem to like their G37's. Their only complaint is the availablity of Ammo.
    I think I will stick with my GAP's!!!! Hey- I like um!!!:supergrin::hearts::rock:

If you took a G38 and a G30 and fired them with 230 grain FMJ's without looking at the gun I doubt if you could tell the difference in recoil.

All my reloading componets are on their way. I even found 1000 small pistol CCI primers.

Congrats on the G39. I see a G38 in your future. The G38 is my favorite Glock.

Sadly, I wish you were right. Look at how many .380's have been sold and there is probably not 10,000 rounds available in the whole US.

But the prices on GAP's are certainly tempting.
