After several years of hunting I finally took a nice one!

I was hunting with my Remington 700 BDL in .270 with a 3.5-10x40 Leupold Vari-X III. He came out of the treeline across our food plot about 90 yards away from me. He crossed the plot without stopping and turned to head up the road. I bleated when he turned broadside and he stopped dead in his tracks. The 130 gr Remington Core-Lokt did the rest! My taxidermist scored him at 125 B&C.

Thanks. I put it together last season when a friend of mine invited me to hunt elk out west with him soon. Here we only have a few spots with firing lanes over 100 yards and I was hunting one of them. The setup is a little much for most of our areas which are typical thick Georgia woods and creek bottoms. For those I usually take my scopeless Model 94 30-30 or .243 Rem 7400 with a 1.5-4x32 Bausch & Lomb. This is my first season using the .270 and I love it.

congratulations very nice deer.. and only after a "few" years.. lol.. I know guys that have hunted 15 years and never shot a buck, we had one guy at camp that went almost 20 before he shot his first..

And the 270 is an awesome deer stopper.. good shooting.

Nice shot, hopefully, I'll see something similiar during Ohio's bow/gun seasons.

I got an 11 pt last weekend. I used my Remington 700 ADL .270 with a Leopold VX-I scope and 130 gr. Remington Core-Lokt cartridge.

My father in law took this 14 pointer opening day. It wasn't his first buck but was definitely his biggest and he's been hunting since he was a teenager.
