His bio says 5’7”, he has been married to two fairly tall women. Heidi 5’9” and Nicole 5’11”.

I’ve been around a lot of famous musicians. Some are primadonna’s but most are very nice people. Some of the fans can be real weirdos.

I see no good reason why our resources should be used for enhancing his ego to begin with...I would vote for NO movies being filmed on our war ships

Lived on ship for 6 happy months, so I can understand:

    1) Scuttlebutt getting around, whether true or false, especially among the lesser informed lower ranks.
    2) The propensity for exaggerated scuttlebutt to get around even faster.

But I would be pissed if an actor and crew made my already crappy existence on ship a single micrometer worse, which sounds unavoidable in some respects.

And this actor in particular is known as a bit...off.

Sounds like a perfect recipe for the complaints.

    He was " just a cook". ;)

He wasn't on a carrier. IIRC a battleship...

(It was a few yrs do I could be mixed up). But this was in extras of the DVD I recall the 30th anniversary TG DVD. Some of the actors spoke of very poor actions. IIRC Val Kilmer demanded he live away from crew, cast housing, refused to o a check ride in a real fighter, refused to do lines from script. "You can be my wingman anytime ". Took hrs before he agreed to do it.
Couple other actors (playing pilots). Were removed from carrier early fir failure to follow instructions.

That Cruise on advise by director limited contact with other Actors playing pilots. But he played some minor practical jokes on them. Hauling a case of wine to remote shoot, asking Val K to " grab that box"

There is heavy hate for Tom Cruise. Who isn't jealous of what he has gotten to do? Offer me 3 check rides in a F14? I won't eat much, find some anti Nasua meds, half dozen barf bags. Let's go.
I admit most of the actors talking about themselves on the carrier filming TG1 did not impress me. That carrier was enroute to med. the director wrote a check for $20k IIRC for ship to change course for half a hr to get sunlight way he wanted.

The idea of cast getting onboard a day early, meet crew at set times. Makes sense.
The " don't go talk to him when he's working" also makes sense.

Good points. Guess I could/should have mad it (more) clear that I wasn't speaking about while onboard the carriers.

Memory's foggy, but that's about the time frame my Dad was there. Small world. His house (1/2 mile off Jax Heights/SR134/103rd St.) was closer to JAX than Cecil, but he spent time working on both stations.

This is almost a must see theater movie as all flight/plane/dogfight videos are. You need that sweeping big screen feeling.

I've been lucky enough to run into some decently famous actors. They're not all ****** bags.

The ones that are jerks will eventually get what's coming: But I think in the here and now, they likely live very empty lives. they can't trust anyone for real as everyone around them is paid to be nice to them, and eventually, that kind of situation deteriorates, as it's not based on any mutual concern/trust/experiences.

I am thinking enlisted are now allowed in the officers club at Pensacola NAS. Enlisted club was closed for cost savings.

I met him twice. It was difficult to have a conversation with him. He seemed to be always posing for some unseen photographer.

I went through the "Rescue Workers Detoxification Program" run by the Scientologists, that he paid for. A million bucks to set up, a hundred grand a year for staff, 6 grand a head to get someone through the usually 3 week program.

I did it a year and a half after 9/11 and i could smell that smell coming out in my piss , my poop, and my sweat. I had read about this type of detox in "Fire Journal" twenty years before 9/11.

They never said word about joining Scientology. Of the 60 or so guys that I know who went through the program, none has come down with cancer. I know 20 something guys who did not do the detox who are dead. Cancer for all but Steve who died from beryllium poisoning. His lungs and tubing turned to mush.

I bear Tom no ill will. He is who he is.

When BMOW I would pipe and attend Officer's Call in "The athwartships passageway forward of the ward room". That's the only time I was ever in "Officer's Country"

I find the blacked out attacks not credible. Navy people deserve and demand respect. So i think the navy folks took care of the actual navy personnal.
