This is a thread dedicated to those who have shot/owned a Glock, switched to other platforms, and returned to Glock. My first handgun was a G19. I purchased this new in April 2004. I gave it to my brother as a gift a little over a year later and began shooting Sig Sauer pistols for a while. I do currently own a P228, and it really is a fine pistol. As Sigs go, it's one of the best. Lately, I had been thinking more about getting a Glock. It was only a matter of time before I'd crack. Tell your story. This is my story.
I made the mistake of perusing the LE trade-ins at my local GT Distributors. Saw a Gen2 Glock 19 for $329 and couldn't help myself. Looked to be in very good shape internally with honest wear on the slide from being carried a lot. The barrel showed some wear although the barrel hood looked like it hadn't been cycled a lot. Having owned a G19 as my first handgun, and having put hundreds of rounds through one, I know my barrel hood showed a lot more wear than the one I saw today which reinforced in my mind that it had seen little use. It came with three hi-cap mags in classic tupperware. Sales tax was an afterthought but it brought the total purchase to $357 out the door. I've been shooting a Sig Sauer P228 for a while and recently picked up a Colt 1911. Then I run into this little guy today. Needless to say, I'm pleased to be a Glock owner again. Love that trigger reset!
update 10/11/2011:
I went ahead and had GT Distributors put night sights on the slide today. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. Since I bought the Glock there, I wasn't charged an installation fee. Glock factory night sights were $57. With tax they came out to $61. Date codes say AK and AK2; sights are marked MH3, also. I'm very pleased with the set-up and can't wait to shoot it this Friday or maybe Saturday morning.
****ty iPhone pics.
I just love the wear on the slide.
