Deleted out of respect for a Vietnam veteran, soldier in the war against terrorism, and true American hero who should not be ridiculed and have his word questioned by a bunch of GT A-holes...

So a guy who was just confronted by several armed soldiers who tell him to vacate the area instead drives 1/4 mile where he stops to pee and then ventures off on foot exploring?

He's a Vietnam vet, active in counter-terrorist groups, and a cantankerous old fart...

    Doesn't surprise me at all...

    This happened when?

Doesn't sound too difficult to believe. Some Military branch is testing some electonic whiz-bang gadgetry, sets up a remote camp to keep the tech stuff secret while testing, in a remote area.

Can you be more specific than "the Southwest corner of Wyoming"?

Sounds like your "friend" may have been dreaming.

That's where we're keeping Saddam Hussein al Majid al Tikriti. The execution was a hoax.

After his re-education is complete, we're going to re-install him in Iraq to put an end to all this:

    1) Iranian puppet government
    2) Expensive oil from Gulf Monarchies
    3) Al Qaeda freedom of movement
    4) Iranian nuclear program
    5) Wave of insurgencies across the Middle East

Not sure about a FEMA camp but I am sure you better have a sound plan for any fecal-matter-hits-the-fan possibility. I learned from observing the aftermath of Katrina if you go to a government shelter, you will cede all your rights, lose your firearms and put yourself and your family in danger of rape and/or murder at the hands of other refugees.

The area is dotted with ICBM missle sites. Stopping too close will get you some unwanted attention.

All major ordnance areas will get you some attention from a security detail these days as well it should. I remember a place when I was a kid that was home to miles and acres and acres of ordnance plants located in a forest. We drove around those back roads, parked with dates, drank beer with friends, etc. Not today.

So, he saw soldiers, lights, buildings, and a fence. From this, he gets 'FEMA camp', instead of 'military facility'?

I don't see any evidence for anything other than 'military facility'. What's his basis for 'prison camp'?

Sounds like he just stumbled onto some remote ordinance facility. That would explain the double-fence, guard towers, roving guards, etc.

Also hearsay, but one of my B-I-Ls is fairly high in the Army Corps of Engineers. Any FEMA camps would have been built and probably funded by the Corps. In fact, this guy might have been the one to write the contract. He's an Air Force vet and pretty sharp. He also likes to drink and I've spent the night at his house more than once with my wife. I've asked him about the possibility late at night after much vodka and he believes it's all BS. If they existed he would know about them. He was sent to NO after Katrina to write contracts and other disaster areas including Puerto Rico. They tried to send him to Cuba and he told them he would quit first. FEMA has camps but they're for disaster preparedness and storage. There are no FEMA prison camps.

    Retired, but not expired.
If you had seen FEMA in action after Katrina, you would be hoping they would be put in charge of relocation camps (yes, we know you told us you were going to declare martial law ten years ago, but you meant you were ready for us to build the camps?).

Seen 'em in action after Hurricane Hugo on St. Croix and in Stuart after Frances and Jean. Both times they did a whole lot of good and helped a lot of very desperate people. Another reason why I scoff at the tinfoil hat crowd with their, "FEMA IS BUILDING DEATH CAMPS FOR THE UN!!", BS.
