Jennifer Foster of Florence, AZ was visiting Times Square with her husband Nov. 14 when they saw a shoeless man asking for change. She writes, “Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, ‘I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching*. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer’s name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared.”
Our thanks to the Fosters for their attention and appreciation, and especially to this officer, who remains anonymous.

What a jerk. All that guy wanted was a beer. He wasn't asking for boots!

Good on the officer, that was pretty nice of him.

Sometimes even decent folks become police officers.

    Beware of Greeks bearing gifts.

The boots were probably outfitted with RFID tags to track and monitor this guy without cause or reason. The police state knows no bounds.

I hate to be the Debbie Downer in this thread but I am skeptical to the validity of this story. It just reeks of internet make believe. All the classic 'email/spam/forward this' signs are there.

Yeah, I haven't seen a bum sitting around Times Square for a while. They seem to know "to move along"

It's a trap. When he uses the "these aren't my shoes" defense, nobody will believe him. :tbo:

    From CNN:
I know that will upset some Glock Talkers, but the police will do something you can talk bad about soon, so keep your chins up.

    Rookie mistake!

Nobody's talking about the 'blanket party' this officer received when the precinct caught wind of his public kindness.

"Listen up, Rookie! The more good you do, the more good you're EXPECTED to do! You wana make all of our jobs harder?!! Is that what you want?!!"

    Good kid.

    I give him a week.

Let me understand this: A fuzzy video AND the NY Times jumped in on this?

I'm going to have to give this cop "two thumbs down" so no one on GNG can accuse me of always defending a cop, no matter what he/she is being accused of. :whistling:

Obviously photoshopped; the cop figure is really Lyndsey Stone!

Thanks for finding the info about Officer DePrimo Bren!
