Does anyone else have these? The dream where there is a BG in the house with deadly intent, so you raise your trusty G21sf, line up the sights, pull the trigger- and pull, and pull, it feels like a 50# trigger or something, your hands are starting to shake from the exertion...

These dreams have been so vivid sometimes that I've actually unloaded my G21 and dry-fired it a couple of times upon waking up- just to kind of tell my mind "See how easy it really is???" What is my subconscious mind trying to say with these dreams? Is it questioning whether or not I would actually have the stones to drop the striker on someone if my life depended on it? :dunno:

I've had that. Or tried to throw punch but my arms moved super slow and felt like I was wearing 100lb gloves. :dunno:

Yep, we all have them to some extent I think. Probably has something to due with the gravity of the situation with us carrying our firearms/protecting our families.

Yeah, but with punches, not guns.

I'll get a hold of someone and be punching but it's like trying to puch someone thru 3 feet of oatmeal.

I posted my answer before I read yours. It's crazy how it's so universal.

happens in two ways to me I'm hitting them or something along those lines and they just won't stop, or I'm running and the wind is blowing so hard I can't get where I need to go.

Huh. That is bizarre. I wonder if there's something to it? My girlfriend woke me up after I slo-mo punched her during one of these dreams. No idea what I was dreaming about, but she said it was like I love-tapped her in the jaw with my fist.

The "three feet of oatmeal" is spot on.

I have had them as well.
    Most frequent:
Hard to pull trigger, it breaks before it fires.
The gun fires, the bullet bounces off my target or hits the ground first.
The gun mifires, I try hard to TPB, the dream goes off that tangent.
I fall and cannot get up.
I jump, miss my landing and cannot get up.
I try to shoot and my target evades me every time...
Dammit, I carry Glocks, this is so wrong!

I get a recurring dream where the slide falls right off the gun when I go to fire.

I've had the same dreams! I pull the trigger, nothing happens. I try to punch, but it's more like love taps. I try to run, but get nowhere. And the strangest one of all, I try to throw a football, but it either just falls at my feet, or I just "whiff" like little kids sometimes do when they are trying to throw one! WTF!!! I'm not a football player, nor do I participate in any football activities. Why the crazy dreams about footballs?

Yes. The strange thing is I've had them since I was a kid, maybe 10 or 12. I grew up in a household where guns were everywhere and a fixture of everyday life, so that might have something to do with it.

They became more common after I got into law enforcement in 2002, and I just had one of the dreams last night....

I was talking to a trainee that was riding with me the other night, and she has had the same sort of dream since she was a kid also, except she always gets shot and dies in hers.

Back when I was 12-13 I used to dream I was running from something but not getting anywhere. Now I don't remember dreaming at all.:dunno::dunno:

Ok, so my version of the dream is first I struggle to get my gun ready, then I am loading it or fumbling around for a magazine. It does fire, BUT...

I hit the BG and nothing happens. Somewhat worse is that I am doing damage but not enough to stop the attacker. I keep shooting but the situation doesn't change.

    Who knows!

Yep! Sure brought back that memory. I had a similar dream about a guy I know attacking me. I shot him like 50 times and it didnt phase him.

I have been that dream every once in a while for over 40 years. Many in the military and law enforcement have them. Somtimes I get to pull the trigger and nothing happens. Yep, a fail to fire when it is needed.

OP- You are having these dreams because your some what paranoid in your subconscious mind. STOP worrying about the threat so much, practice and get your confidence up.

Its the same with anything. If I walk around all day worrying about spiders, I will dream of spiders in my sleep that night.

Get some more practice in, confidence up and STOP being semi paranoid.
