is brought to you by Ubuntu. IndyGunFreak stepped me through the process and now I'm surfin Ubuntu
It's a simple OS.. it'll seem weird to you at first, because it is VERY different from Windows.. but once you get the hang of it, it's not hard at all.
I just sent you another PM w/ some basics about the package manager and how to use it...
Like I said.. use the Live CD a couple days for the stuff you generally do, if you like the idea of it, I'll talk you through setting up a Dual Boot system(where you'll have a choice between XP or Ubuntu)...
That was quick. Congratulations
Yeah... would've been quicker, but ran into some issues figuring out how to make his PC boot the CD... okie didn't know how, and I had a heckuva time tracking down the manual for his PC...
Only to find out, Okie had his asset tag memorized(probably from calls to Dell ), and gave me that, which allowed me to track it down.
Sounds like a plan to me my friend
I couldn't have done it without IGF
Just remember, if it seems like it runs a little slow, remember, it is running from the CD... On a machine w/ the specs yours has.. You'll see a pretty dramatic performance difference between the live CD, and an installed system...
Sounds good my friend
