You ever work on something and think this shouldn’t be wet. Why am I feeling wet?

    Then notice the blood?

It’s been that sort of morning. Little HVAC problem. There shouldn’t have been any water. Well, there wasn’t any water at least.

I almost never know why I'm bleeding. Sometimes I'm not even the first one to notice. Comes with the job.

If I'm bleeding, i usually know why. But sometimes I'll cut myself and notice blood later and think "really? THAT made me bleed?" Because i barely felt it.

20+ years on airplanes so I grok you. Sometimes a plane requires a blood sacrifice before it'll work.
I didn't think about this pertaining to other fields. Cars of course too.

When I was a small child, I was around my Grandfather a lot. I was always hanging around while he was taking care of man stuff. You know, fixing all the stuff Grandma broke or wore out?
Anyway, on numerous occasions, I'd be watching and notice that he had cut himself and was amazed at his ability to either not know he'd just cut himself or not care.
I'm nearing 60 and have on several occasions lost my grip on something that I was trying with great intent to hold still only to realize I was bleeding, sometimes profusely.
I guess as you get older, you aren't as sensitive.

I’ll have people pointing out wounds/scabs on my hands, arms, legs, face(?), etc and asking what happened. Most of the time I’m aware of it but usually I cannot for the life of me remember how I did it.

I was running my bulldozer the other day when a tree limb whacked me in the forehead. Didn't really think much about it until a couple minutes later when I thought I had sweat in my eye. Turned out it was a fair amount of blood streaming down my face.
Figured it didn't get much more manly than driving a bulldozer through the woods with a face covered in blood. If I could have somehow worked a grizzly bear into it, I would have been the manliest man ever.

I am forever cutting/scratching/bruising myself and I never feel it happen, at least the smaller ones.

    I ken it.

I know a retaining wall that required multiple blood sacrifices: we had plates driven into the ground with a threaded rod bolted in place (also underground) and the other end of the rod bolted into the structure of the wall, so you tighten the nuts and the wall can be kept straight as pressure is applied, well, that threaded rod had to be cut off at a certain point and before I could address the sharp edge after hacksawing the ****ing things to size, at least half of them got me a good one, some more than once. At the end if the day, it looked like I had a large house cat attack me and I shielded myself with my arms.

If it's just a little cut, let it bleed out a while so it looks like a big mess, when you go back inside you'll get more TLC and sympathy that way.
