Sure. The debate among people who actually know what they're talking about will be ended by an article online and people who still cannot distinguish between stopping and killing.

Sounds like cousins to the Wonderful Whites of West Verginny. Piles of fail there.

No it shouldn't. The .22 worked for him and that's a good thing. Article doesn't address the many many times a .22 fails to stop an attacker even if it does cause an ultimately fatal wound.

Yeaaaaaah....

That doesn't really end any debate.

The debate in question is largely useless. Use whatever you want, whatever you have.

I use a .22 at home for defense. It just has a 3 at the end of it.

No....it doesn't end anything. You can kill someone by shooting a pellet through their eye, does not mean you should rely on it.

There's a old video called "Deadly Effects".
It's pretty gruesome, man shot in the face with a 44 Mag, shotgun shootings, mob hits, one man shot dozens of times with 9mm bullets and still fighting back, etc.

The point of the movie is, NO pistol round will stop every one every time.

But let's see a show of hands,
Who thinks they are bad enough to take several 22 bullets in the chest and still have any fight left in them?

I thought so.

If I go back in time - my wife was not really anti or pro gun.

She was just one of the many that never really thought about guns - never shot one - never really wanted to shoot one.

One day she decided to go the the range with me - I started her out with a .22 rifle - a Marlin model 60 -

She did good from her first shot.

I slowly worked her up to .22 pistols - then a 20 gauge shotgun - wanted to work her up to a 9MM pistol (still trying).

She always comes back to the .22 rifle as her favorite -

She knows how to fire the 20 gauge semi auto (loaded with #3 buck) - but I would not want to be the poor SOB that tried to break down the door with her and the Marlin with 14 rounds of .22 LR. on the other side.

10 to the chest 4 to the head would ruin your day.

There, that settles it. All LE Agencies will be switching to .22 revolvers.

Some minds just cannot distinguish between absolute and relative.

absolute:
Getting shot with a .22 (or even a .177 bb) is bad.
relative:
Getting shot with a .223 is measurably worse.

small rock < .22 < .40 < .223

sometimes one prefers for the target to run off and die someplace else.

I am happy he was able to defend himself.

I will not depend on a .22 to save my life if at all possible.

If a .22 works for you-use it. I lean more to the guy who replied as to why he carried a .45 "because they do not make a .46".

And if the target instead runs AT you to take you with him?

I don't think anyone doubts a .22 can kill. But can it be counted on to quickly and effectively stop a grown, angry, goal oriented criminal when seconds count?
