Good to see that some one is keeping an eye on me. I got distracted by one of the other posts and was reading up on the TV series, Space: Above and Beyond.

I remember seeing it years ago.

Something to consider. A disease with a 20% or higher mortality rate will likely lead to an interruption in utilities. If you have a large freezer and a generator, be certain you have enough gasoline to run it for a while. Buy canning salt too. This can be used to brine meat as a means to preserve it in case your freezer fails. Always have a backup plan.

Almarai poultry farm (Baraka 2) is the world's single largest Broiler Breeder Farm, Spread an area of 26 square kilo meters near Talhah, Buraidha, Saudi Arabia. 6424 acres. All it takes is one infected migratory bird . . .

Yeah, the deeper you get into prep planning the deeper it gets, it's never ending.

I can have 3 freezers full of stuff, but I will also have "just in case" backups to that if the freezers do go bad.

I've been good on water filtration for years. That's one of the easier aspects of prepping.

    Some tentative thoughts.
    1. If I understand correctly that there is enough scientific information to correlate sun exposure and ingestion of vitamin D to a reduced chance of contracting the epidemic, the governments and the social action groups and media should be underscoring this relationship.
    2. If you don't want to have people in long term care facilities dying because of "old age conditions" or underlying co-morbidity factors, you have about 3-4 months for the governments to come up with rehousing older people so that the governor of a state does not move 4,500 infected people from hospitals to existing long term care facilities. I am not optimistic.
    3. The average age of participants when they moved to a nursing home was about 83. The average length of stay before death was 13.7 months, while the median was five months. Fifty-three percent of nursing home residents in the study died within six months.

Men died after a median stay of three months, while women died after a median stay of eight months.
    4. The infection rate is not high enough to provide a herd immunity. We can quibble about whether the infection rate will still be increasing or whether there will be a second wave this next fall. The result is going to be the same.
    5. With the information I have provided, you now understand why a medical doctor speculated that the epidemic merely accelerated die off of people with underlying conditions.
    6. Incidentally, the leading cause of death in the long term care facility is dementia. So, as treatments are developed, society is going to have to consider other options than packed rest homes where the residents will die of the "annual flu".

Kansas had trouble with their website and finally got it fixed.

Three day update had fewer cases compared to the last 2 day update. Cases increased by 292 over the weekend bringing the total number of cases to 10,011. 862 in hospitals with 290 in ICUs and 127 on ventilators. 555 have been discharged.

Male cases at 5,519 (51.9%) and female cases at 4,308 (43%) with 108 (1.8%) not reported.

    217 deaths reported, 109 (52.2) male and 108 (49.8%) female.

103,139 have been tested with 93,301 testing negative. The 9 counties account for 8,838 cases. My county now has 5 confirmed cases.

And once again poor innocent space aliens are blamed for crop circles. We are much too busy with our probing program to make crop circles.

Besides, space aliens don’t even exist. Silly humans.

    tuesday report from Los Angeles.
    1. it is now apparent that many small businesses have failed. A lot of for rent signs.
    2. stores are now boarded up.
    3. i confirmed my suspicion that a major grocery chain deliberately supplies one store and not another. The store in the wealthier area two miles away has a lot of paper goods. Close to none in the next store - and it has been that way for weeks.
    4. 15 people standing in line outside the bank this am discouraged me from waiting. City National Bank.
