My first thought is that the government is at the point of "do something, ANYTHING to see if it helps". Also, possibly some propaganda to make people feel better: "Look, the government is doing something about it!".

I can see where spraying areas where food is distributed but I don't see the logic of spraying the street and what appears to be a sewer line. Maybe they are trying to save the rats. :dunno:

I can say this much, getting accurate information in China is akin to sailing a meandering river in dense fog. This Chinese are confusing, disorganized, and totally unprepared by nature (hence the "Chinese fire drill").

Second, it seems we have more precise information in our news than the average (educated) Chinese person has. I bring up this point because I mentioned to some of my contacts that I read yesterday that China is "temporarily" closing wild animal markets until this situation is over. I screamed at my phone....temporarily?!!!! They told me that in China the news is that they are closing the wild animal markets (with no mention as to whether it's temporary or permanent). And THIS, in a nutshell, is China...omission of important information.

At this point in time, I think there is very little information we can rely on. We're sailing through dense fog, and time will tell what was/is true and that was/is false. It's even possible the origin is not the wild animal market at all (and sort of explains why the Chinese gov doesn't seem so worried about these markets), and quite possibly a virus in a lab nearby that got out due to sloppy employees (another problem in China...everyone seems to think they have the next best shortcut there). But then again, wouldn't you think that if the Chinese had developed the next deadly virus to conquer the world, they would have had a vaccine prepared for their citizens? Yes, that makes sense, but then again, the Chinese are usually unprepared.

I wonder how many years it will take before we all learn the truth about how the virus started.. Like mentioned above, what if an employee at a lab in Wuhan accidentally infected himself/herself, left work for the day, stopped in at the local market to grab dinner and infected people at the market.. The disease then spread among the people at the market and we all assume it started there..

I should start a poll; Will the truth ever be known about the origin of this virus.. My guess is-NO..

Interesting. Back in the 80’s (1980’s) we had a couple of those foggers for CS gas. They were S&W Pepper Foggers. You could break up a very large crowd if you ran that upwind of them.

    Still being made.

    from the article...
“Due to a significant decline in demand for travel to China, we are suspending some flights between our hub cities and Beijing, Hong Kong and Shanghai beginning Feb. 1 through Feb. 8. We will continue to monitor the situation as it develops and will adjust our schedule as needed,” said a statement to Fox News."
