They use bamboo for scaffolding while building high rises. Discounting Chinese engineering and capabilities is silly at best.

    Safe, not silly.
Death toll rise to 74 in the scaffold collapse in east China's Jiangxi Province

Yep, it happens with steel as well. It's rare and they have been doing this for decades....

Temporary hospital construction. They're saying it will be done in 6 days.

Think I might go visit relatives for a while, if I lived in that area...

Honestly, not really worried about myself. But worried about it spreading and really worried about my elderly mother who lives in a city. Lots of asian tourists all over even in rural areas visiting the GC and other places. These kinds of flu variants tend to kill the elderly and already sick. Most healthy individuals can fight through it. So my concern is simply for my mom if a pandemic breaks out.

Can’t say as I blame em. If it does turn out to be an epidemic, maybe we ought to stock up on more P100 respirator filters.. while they’re still available. And surgical masks to hand out to other folks.

I had a thought that made me laugh. Imagine if this really is “the big one” and societies start to collapse. Then imagine if all the surviving GT members could congregate in a central location and form a colony.

I’m pretty sure with the variety of skills and knowledge here that once everyone was given a role according to their skill set the GT colony could do rather well. At the very least we would have a better chance than most.

Wont happen but an interesting idea anyway.

Let me be the first to nominate TBO for sheriff.

4 MONTH food supply??? ( I have well water, so plenty of that)

    That is end-of-the-world type supplies.

Who realistically has that? Even "preppers" talk about 2-3 month supply. That is a LOT of food.

The US food supply chain will break down that badly?

Just hard to believe, especially with so many seemingly "cry wolf" events that have petered out in the past.

The people that usually claim to have three to four months of food don't realize that after a 60-day food shortage there will be roaming gangs of armed desperate individuals breaking in the houses looking for supplies. Starvation makes people do desperate things.

Chinese New Year celebrations have already started.

Unlike “New Year’s Eve,” the Chinese New Year celebration this year starts on the 24th with the “eve” and goes until the Lantern Festival 15 days later...

It moves each year as it’s tied to the phases of the moon.
