I guess that's helpful for clarity going forward, but it does obscure the total at a quick glance.

We were at 16. Now the "Total Confirmed Cases" is "13" because you have to add the 3 from the other category and the ship passengers get another category still. So, actually, it's 34 confirmed cases now living inside the USA.

Well, that's one way to deal with the impending Social Security / Medicare crisis.

It's almost like it wasn't spreading fast enough on its own so we imported some more cases to speed it along. Nothing to see here just move along.

Several U.S. passengers of the Diamond Princess cruise ship who have tested positive for coronavirus are "seriously ill," U.S. CDC says; they're being treated in Japan.

Even though I don’t care for it at all...I’m thinking it might be a good time to take up smoking.
Too bad our local American Legion banned smoking, I could sit around with the old vets smoking and getting hammered all day until the end comes.

Feb. 21 (UPI) -- World Health Organization officials confirmed Friday that the 12-member team working in China this week -- primarily in Beijing, Guangdong and Sichuan, where there has been an uptick in confirmed cases -- will be moving to Wuhan, ground zero for the COVID 19 over the weekend.
Adhanom said Friday that the "window of opportunity" for containing the COVID-19 outbreak may be "narrowing," although he and his colleagues emphasize they still believe containment is possible.

Well, looks like China is going to let WHO into Wuhan. I guess the ChiComs have finally got all of those pesky, “telltale”
    bodies burned.

WHO still believes containment is possible. Gotta love their optimism.

I find it absolutely fascinating that no one I work with has even mentioned this or even seem to be aware that is anything is going on. I have been quietly gathering up some supplies in case I have to hole up at the house for a while.

I was in a meeting with area companies and asked if any had developed a coronavirus response plan for their company? They all laughed. I pulled up a few of the articles online and the laughter quickly ended. Needless to say, I think most are very ill-prepared for any type of response. We already are working with our IT department to get different departments the ability to work at home and to try to stay functioning all though it would be at very minimal levels because the one thing we can't do without is bodies to do the work. I might be able to get the support departments functioning, but without construction workers in the field, we will be at a dead stop.

^^^ It's just me and my pets so I only have one person to be preparing for (already stocked up on pet food). I can't begin to imagine having a family and then being faced with the possibility that I don't have enough in the house to sustain them if this gets really bad. I think at this point I would be losing sleep.

The window of opportunity for containing Covid-19 may be narrowing?!?
Really? They think so? What on earth led them to that conclusion?

But...containment is still possible? Huh? Did they finally break out that time machine they been hiding and go back a month or so?
Or, did the researcher working on a new variety of magic mushrooms just bust out the latest batch?
