Kansas was up over the weekend, an increase of 2,037 cases for a total of 58,629. Hospitals have discharged 2,051 patients.

513,909 have been tested with 455,280 testing negative. The monthly testing rate per 100K is 3,187. The monthly percent positive is 7.4%

Hospital capacity remains in good shape. 83 hospitals reporting 763 total ICU beds with 418 in all uses and 88 for covid patients. 45% of ICU beds are available.

The same number of hospitals report 796 total ventilators with 128 in all uses and 29 for covid patients. 84% of ventilators are available.

270 covid patients have been admitted and 5,248 beds are available. 637 deaths so far.

48 counties at 100 or more cases and 4 counties with 95 or more cases. When these 4 counties go over 100 cases it will be half of the counties in Kansas.

My county is holding steady with 24 cases and 21 recovered.

Article has good examples of why the “experts” that are usually unnamed are starting to seem like sky is falling alarmists.

    Summary

expert - if you open schools it will be terrible

FL opens schools anyways and infection rate of school age declines

Expert Maybe it declined but it is too early to know sky could still fall

It has been over a month

Expert Yeah it is declining but it is not declining as fast.

    etc....

FL numbers fell off a cliff over the weekend but I think some health depts and medical examiner’s offices are starting to go back to skeleton crews over the weekend. We officially had 5 deaths reported today. Though those people probably actually died in Aug.

Weekend numbers are worthless. FL is prob averaging around 100+ deaths per day.

Everything dies, including people? I never knew that! Shocking I tell you! Shocking!

What is really shocking to me is that there are people that believe these numbers and what the government says. The latter is downright scary.

It's not some sort of fantasy. Monday's reported data is always low as it is actually from Sunday. Sunday's is always low because it's from Saturday. It's the weekend and a lot of places aren't open to report (at least not the offices). Then it's a bit higher during the week as what actually happened over the weekend is finally reported. You have to look at whole weeks if you want an accurate picture.

For instance, here are Florida's deaths for the past week:
    9/28: 5
    9/27: 10
    9/26: 107
    9/25: 120
    9/24: 177
    9/23: 202
    9/22: 99

Weekly average for the past 7 days for Florida: 102.86 deaths per day

So, cowboy1964 is correct with his "100+" daily deaths estimate. You can't just cherry pick the weekend numbers because most of the offices that report what his happening in the hospitals are closed those days.

This weekend/weekday variance trend can be seen across the entire United States and has been this way since the pandemic began. Here is Florida for the last few months, see that "saw tooth" pattern in the data lining up with the start of each week? Notice the black moving average line hovering around 100?

Ah, gotcha, so one of the most conservative states in the US where that state's health department reports to one of the most conservative governors in the US is somehow cooking the books even though their governor is charging forward with re-opening. To believe that requires that you somehow believe Gov. DeSantis doesn't have control over his own administration.

I believe it's at the hospital level more than anywhere else.

Financial incentives are huge to have covid patients die in your hospital. Our friend the traveling Covid nurse has seen, everywhere she's worked, and is still seeing on her assignment in Cali that they will hold someone for days trying to get a positive test so the hospital gets their federal funds. They call them rule outs, and rule out can be tested 5 or 6 times in 10 days trying to get a positive.

So why doesn't Gov. DeSantis just blow the lid off of this practice thereby ensuring his own re-election and also practically guaranteeing the re-election of Trump and the holding of the Senate Republican majority? If true, this would be the smoking gun that would carry the 2020 election for pretty much all Republicans everywhere. Seems like a no-brainer and certainly within the ability of Gov. DeSantis to get to the bottom of.

Your guess is as good as mine.

If I had to hazard a guess, I would say that because Trump would be hammered harder than he already is, and he doesn't need the additional conflict this close to an election. I do believe that a lot of this evidence will come to light next year when we get to examine overall deaths, and then we'll be able to see what categories are way down to the benefit of the Covid fear pushers.

    Uh
Uh - huh? Could you provide some details about this? Sources maybe. Sad view of course but I am missing how many abortions occur every 2 days versus 200,000,000 virus deaths.
