There are many of us that lose a family member "pet" and others just say it was just a dog or a cat and tell you to get over it! We lost our very first Pug Kalli over two years ago and my wife and I both feel we will never quit mourning her. This part of the Forum is Therapy for many of us,and it gives us encouragement and allows us to do the same for others. There is not a day that we dont look at pictures of Kalli or our other three Pugs and think about the good times we all shared. I always tell people take a few minutes a day and hug your pet instead of walking past them as you head out the door. You may not get the chance tommorow.

You're right, they are never "just" a dog or a cat to us. We all buy pets knowing that we will probably out live them. But, when that day comes, it always comes as a surprise. I make sure that my guy knows that he is loved and that I will always be there.
