The local range just got a large shipment of G19's in stock....Gun (NIB), 2 boxes of ammo (50's), safe, cleaning kit, tax, gets me up to~$825.00.
    Thoughts????????????

    BTW......my first handgun purchase.......

Not sure what 9mm ammo....what ever they happen to have in stock.
    GunVault Mini Standard (~$125.00)
The LGS/range put together a tackle box with mat, cleaning supplies, oil, etc.

Can't you just purchase the G19 without all the swag?

For cleaning all you need is a Hoppe's Bore Snake ($14 or so), some Hoppe's #9 ($8), perhaps a can of Ballistol ($12), some patches, a toothbrush, and an old microfiber towel. Maybe some gun oil, although the Ballistol itself is sufficient. All of that for less than $50.

My local stores charge $499 but its my understanding that Glocks are harder to get nowadays.

So $579 doesn't seem too bad.

And you could do a lot worse than a G19 for your first gun. G19's are great pistols.

That's not a bad price for a G19, and the Gen4 G19s are great guns. I have a Gen 4 G23 and just bought a Kahr PM9. I'm thinking if I'm going to go 9mm a new G19 to go with the Kahr might just have to be my next gun purchase.

    Wanted to add:

$39.00 is high for a cleaning kit. Chances are it comes with bits for a bunch of calibers you don't have and will never have. Buy the pistol alone if you want but get a caliber specific pistol cleaning kit.

G19 is great gun. You may be able to do better on the other stuff. But get the G19.

go to gunbroker.com, look at pricing there. $575 is a bit high, and $850.00 is a complete rip-off.

You need the pistol, a Boresnake, some CLP, and that's it. Get your ammo at Walmart.

My first gun was a G19, and I'm still very happy with the purchase. I haven't been shopping prices lately. But 579 isn't ridiculous (it is on the high end, but I know prices are up). You'll need a holster too. And a gun belt. I'd get a holster before a cleaning kit, personally.

A lot of Walmarts barely have ammo anymore. I'd say I've found zero of any of the calibers I use in my last thirty or so visits. They say it goes away a few minutes after they stock it, and I'm not going to set up a lawn chair waiting.

    1. We all know ammo is hard to come by right now.
    2. The OP lives in a different state. His Walmarts might have ammo.

A suggested you probably would do better on the other stuff elsewhere. The price is at the higher end but not terrible right now. The Glock 19 is a great first gun - it does alot of different things reasonably well.

They know you need the money for bills and not for stacking ammo in the back of your truck! :whistling:

If you are asking me I'd just buy a G19 if you can find one. A cleaning kit can be picked up anywhere. As far as the safe goes I'd pass on it.

If you are a peace officer, military or retired military, you can buy a G19 with standard sights for $398.20 or one with Trijicon sights for $477.40.

    Just do it.

Pick up the other items separately as needed.
