I haven't since the mid 90s. A lot of stuff was overpriced and people want to haggle. I hate haggling even for a car where $500-2000 can be in play. At least there the haggling will get you a good chunk of change.

About the only thing I would look for would be parts and holsters. I remember reading an article from a gunsmith where he talked about buying an old N frame .357 missing the barrel. He then found a .45 M25 barrel at another show. Then a .45 ACP cylinder at another show. He pieced it all together and chopped the barrel for a pin gun/CCW piece.

About the only way I would go into one now is if I lived in a gun friendly place like Idaho and was looking for project pieces. Like say someone had a Mossberg 930 barrel. I'd like to have a rifle sighted 18" barrel for my 930 in addition to my 18" bead sighted barrel.

I have had good luck at Gun Show's, but not lately. I've bough a .38 Webley War Finish, a NIB Colt .45 Revolver, a Browning A5, and a bunch of holster's and ammunition. I find lately too high prices on used guns and ammunition, plus too many knick knacks and questionable food items. Also a lot of "My guns worth a fortune, but the one your selling is not worth much."

I couldn't believe a 50 rd box of 115 gr Blazer aluminum 9mm was going for about $36.00 a box at a gun show last month in New Braunfels. There was a post in another thread where that or similar ammo is going for about $60.00 at Cheaper Than Dirt. I just picked up a couple of boxes of Fiocchi 115 gr 9mm last week at GT Distributors in Austin for $13.99 per box, and I still think that's a lot.

I know I paid a lot for my SIG P365XL at that same show, but I've been to stores in the area where display cases have been empty for months. Since I didn't want to wait and wanting it then, I sold my G43 to another dealer and went over with cash in hand to the other dealer with the goods I wanted. I just wish I would have waited a week or two when I made a trip up to GT Distributors where they had the pistol in stock AND for a VERY pretty penny less.

The best deal I got at a gun show was a bag of praline pecans.

If she was straw purchasing a hood rat would have been circling nearby.

No, I only stop by the Deland Gun show at the Fairgrounds. I don't travel to Orlando; too much traffic on I-4 and too many drive-bys in Orlando. Based on the local news down there, someone is getting clipped down there every day.

In February I got a good deal, $250. OTD for a M&P40 1.0 LEO trade in.

That made me feel better after I missed out on a deal for a G48

Wouldn’t go to a show now though.

I saw a P365XL for $575 today - that seems like the best deal of all the guns I looked at -

That’s an odd thing to say, just because she’s a female doesn’t mean it’s likely to be a straw purchase.Perhaps she wants to go shooting or feels a need for self defense. The more women regardless of age or color that want to own firearms is a good thing and shouldn’t be disparaged.

My best deal at a gun show was getting in for free.

That was before they started charging for entrance, too.

One of my LGS admitted to me that he takes most all of his high demand guns and ammo to gun shows because he can sell there for above MSRP. That’s a slap in the face of the locals that frequent his shop. I stopped going to his shop and would do without before I did go in there again. In times of shortages I don’t expect to get a deal but I also don’t expect to pay above MSRP from a local guy that I’ve shopped at regularly. Fortunately there’s another store that’s so financially stable that they don’t feel the pressure to screw anyone when items are scarce. I was in his shop a few weeks ago and most pistols such as Glock & M&P were priced at MSRP. He actually has a surprisingly good selection of pistols and rifles. It’s ammo that he cannot get.
