The South Carolina General Assembly has proposed a bill that would add active members of the state house and senate to the list of CWP holders who may carry a concealed weapon anywhere within the state. You know, places like the ones we've been trying to get them to allow us to carry our weapons. Places like restaurants that serve alcohol. I have a major problem with this.

THEY ARE US. They are elected citizenry.

I'm going to urge my representatives to vote "no" on this. What do y'all think?

I think everyone should be "allowed" to carry everywhere, unless there is specific reason to disallow them, in which case they probably should be locked up.

I think that state or federal legislators should not be able to pass ANY law for the citizenry that does not apply to themselves and vice-versa.

They work for US. They are PUBLIC SERVANTS!

"Tyranny is defined as that which is legal for the government but illegal for the citizenry."

    Ditto.

The only exception I would agree with is that they should be allowed to carry at work while the rest of us probably cannot carry in the legislative building.

If anything I think elected officials should be disarmed and not provided any armed security. They should have to call the cops in they are in danger.

How can you live in MA, and be in the SC state legislature at the same time?

I think that is crazy. If they can then why can't I! I will vote against anyone that votes for this. We need to be able to carry in restaurants/bars as long as we dont drink.

Let it pass and then sue the state for unfair bias, forcing them to expand it to include everyone else.

That's sort of the reason I posted this thread.

I was thinking that it might be a good idea to support this, and once it's passed, use that as an argument to get it passed for everyone. Not necessarily sue, but just use that as an argument.

Though my initial thinking was to oppose this bill, I got to thinking that it is at least a step in the right direction. I wanted to see if anyone else would see it from that angle.
