I'm going shooting with some friends this afternoon out in the desert so I grabbed my 'Flipper-Spec' 1911 and the .22 conversion 1911 to give them quick pre-flights.

The .45 1911 was a bit dirty so apart she came. When it came time to reassemble I remembered that there was a new FUSION stainless mag release in the goodie box that might look sexy. So a quick spring swap-out and a bit of a polish job, in it went. I also did not like the 'look' of the stainless bushing so it was swapped out for a blue GI. Tinkering with 1911s is fun, no wonder my safe is void of any other pistols these days!

I totally understand. I think my favorite thing to do is clean my 1911...I truly enjoy disassembling, cleaning every single part, oiling every single part, buffing out small handling marks and then reassembling. It's very relaxing...It's almost as enjoyable as shooting it!!

I've read elsewhere that the 1911 is the '57 chevy of the gun world. Most aftermarket parts and so fun to tinker with that it becomes just one more addiction to add to our gun collection.
