I don't jump up on my soapbox too often around here but let me just say that the day I call my wife "THE" anything, she'll kick my ass. Seems it's become pretty much acceptable to call your wife or girlfriend "the" wife or "the" girlfriend. Personally, I find it offensive. It's demeaning and rude but of course we all know that old saying about opinions and *******s.

Y'all have a good day now.

I called my wife my ol' lady, ONCE.

    She was not amused.

I agree. I have enough respect for my wife note to demean her with negativity like that, no matter who is or isn't listening. :wavey:

Is "my wife" better? Doesn't that imply ownership?

I call her "Junior." Some people think that's odd.

It is pretty offensive, I wouldn't tolerate it. My husband calls me "Head ****Blocker"

Nor do I. In fact, I've seen my fiancee refer to me as "the boy" on some of the forums she frequents. Of course context is important and it's always said in a playful, if not loving, manner.

She also calls me ****head when I leave the toilet seat up, but again..it's playful.

Now if she called me The ****head......it would indeed be on, cuz

People get all bent out of shape over the strangest things.

"The wife" is a term of respect, denoting her stature, her position in the household, her greatness.

People who don't understand that are probably just sexist.

I don't see how "the" is any more demeaning than "my".

Altough I'm not married I would not call my wife "The Wife"

What I can't stand is the term "Baby's Mamma", might as well call her "C*m Dumpster" in my opinion

People who are president are called 'the president' all the time. Same goes for a lot of titles.

You know, now that I think about it, the reason I dislike it so much is because of this dirtbag that was married to one of my wife's friends a long time ago used to say it all the time. It was the first time I'd ever heard it but now I see and hear it all the time. Anyway, I still don't like it. Hate me if you want to...don't care.
