Trump is not going to win in 2020. The dems are winning even in Montana ,W Virginia Kentucky and Louisiana. May as well buckle down and stock up while we can. When the dems hit on the idea of importing votes from other countries it was game over. My county here in KY voted for the dem. I'ts not done that in ages. You go to my town and the number of immigrants is amazing. Nothing to do but let them lead and hang on for the ride.

The Republican had to defeat a strong incumbent Democrat. The sky isn’t falling.

I wonder if Edwards is any relation to ex-Gov. Edwin Edwards, who once famously said the only reason he would not get elected was if

" they had pictures of him with a dead girl or a live boy. "

IDK, Edwards is pro gun, anti abortion, Christian etc. vs the other guy, a businessman who wanted to halt Medicare expansion and remove people from medicare and healthcare in general. The other guy also didn’t do much campaigning nor was he very like able to Louisianans apparently.
And Trump dragged this guy neck and neck with Edwards to the finish line and the guy wiffed.

So what does that tell you?

Pretty close election results. Not real sure the better of the two didn't win this one. Governors are just figureheads anyway, some dogcatchers have greater legislative influence than they do!

While you may be correct about 2020, the KY results are a terrible example. The Governor race went the way it did because the incumbent pissed off the state workers, all educators and all unions and still only lost by 0.4%. Meanwhile, Attorney General, Autitor, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Ag Commisioner and two state house special elections, we're landslide Republican victories.

We still haven’t had another election where Trump is on the ballot. It makes a difference.

Most people don’t follow or vote in non-presidential elections.

Exactly. When it’s Trump vs $52,000,000,000,000 Warren or Trump vs The self promoting gender fluid from South Bend it will be a totally different situation.

Sometimes the Republican candidate just plain sux. It's their fault for not offering a good choice. Trump is not a miracle worker but I can say without a doubt that he is giving it good shot. Anyone else would have given up the ship by now but he just keeps at it. I'm not always happy with his choice of words or methods, but who am I to criticize what's working?

I thought it was strange that two Republicans were fighting among themselves right up until two weeks before the election didn’t you? Why didn’t one sold candidate run from the get/go?

No, he's an equally repellent candidate all by himself. Trump has had good luck going to states to campaign for different people. He made 3 trips here and I thought that would be good for Edwards' opponent. It was close (51% to 49% I believe) but the trial lawyers (of which this clown is one) just got a big boost. The interstates are clogged with billboards for lawyers. It's sad.

I lived in LA while the first Edwards was Gov. It was always fun to see what he would do next.
