Plant-based meat is taking the world by storm, with the Impossible Burger and Beyond Burger leading the charge. These two companies produce plant-based (but not exactly veggie) burgers that mimic the taste and texture of real beef burgers. You can find both burgers at various restaurants across the US, and Beyond Meat has been selling its faux beef at groceries stores for several years. Now, you can pick up Impossible Burger meat at grocery stores too -- that is, if you live in Southern California.

Since you can now cook both of plant-based meats at home, we decided to do the ultimate taste test and compare them side by side with the same ingredients. Check out the video to see which one we liked best, and learn everything you could ever want to know about these plant-based meats below.

If it won't make me sick, it tastes like beef, and cost lest than hamburger then I'll give it a shot.

Both of these products have a large amount of coconut which isn't good for everyone around me.

From what I've heard, the faux burger patty has a good bit more salt than real beef. Likely won't be eating them in the future.

If the impossible burger had less fat or was better for you than hamburger, the claim would have made as a selling point, yet you see no such claim.

Even the CEO of the largest organic and fresh food supermarket refuses to sell this new “meat” citing the “overly refined” ingredients and “unknowns.”

The makers don’t even claim it has less fat than regular hamburger, so what’s the point of it all?

Didn't watch the video yet. Maybe later when I have more time.

Not sure I'll ever try one, especially if it's loaded with salt? Blood pressure and all.

I do love my home made (real home grown beef) true quarter pounders.

I’ve heard millennials comment that these products are definitely NOT considered “healthy” and will not be marketed as such. Apparently the Beyond Meat product is made with pea meal and contains wood fiber. I’ll just bet it does take a lot of salt to make it taste....at all.

It isn’t healthier than beef and it costs more.

    Marketing to millennial idiots.

No thank you. My diet is a combo of beef, fish and vegetables and dairy. I’m just fine as is.

Tried the impossible whopper on a whim. It tasted gross; just like the real whopper.

I had a Beyond Meat burger at one of our more artisan burger joints a while back. They charged exactly double the same model using real beef.

I felt the taste was on par with their beef version which is yummy. I knew pretty soon the salt content was waaay higher.

I heard the founder of Impossible on CNBC last night, The whole pitch is plant based meats are better for the environment. Beef does take a lot of resources to grow, so from the standpoint of "carbon footprint", it will be a lighter load on the environment once they get up to full production capability.

It is definitely NOT healthier for anyone and quite a bit less healthy for a meaningful portion of the population.

The founders of these companies will all be exceptionally rich men before this fad runs its course.
