I made a recent post about my purchase of a second AR and my wife throwing a sh!t fit about it. She just can't understand why I need 2 of them. Anyway the comedy is getting ripe at my house. So yesterday she picks up the rifle and accuses me of having a bump stock on it. What she thinks is a bump stock is nothing but a multi position stock.

Anyway this leads to a conversation about the second amendment. She defies that the second amendment is under siege. She says that no one will take any guns away. I sat her down and educated her that she was totally wrong. I'm really not sure that she believed me. She also hates the NRA, but she can't site any reasons for her beliefs. My wife is a staunch Democrat who thinks with her feelings and seems oblivious to facts. I think that I have a lot work ahead of me on educating her on gun rights.

My wife recently told me, if I want another AR, go get it.

But of course *she* wants the Sig P365, so there's always something. :)

We all know liberalism is a mental disorder, hopefully this firearms disconnect doesn't affect other issues.

My MIL is clueless on so many subjects, firearms being one of a huge number. Of course, she idolizes the buffoon Chris Matthews, so enough said. Don

Good luck. It may not be the fact that you bought a second AR so much as the fact that you own an AR at all. The business with a bumpstock accusation and the claim that our gun rights are not under attack really makes it look to be more along those lines.

Could you pick up a stripped lower on the sly for your next AR build? Building 'em up one piece at a time is a nice low profile way of getting 'em into the house. One AR looks like another to non-gun people, so as long as you never have more than one outside the safe at a time.... Maybe even go 80%. And if you can have packages delivered to work or a PO box, parts are just parts so that's an easy dodge.

Not sure what else you can do given the circumstances you describe.

    Good luck,
    Grumpy

My wife and I got married young. She a college student. Me a soldier. So of course, she was much more liberal than I.

She never opposed my gun ownership. Just didn’t understand it. Until I went to go plow the streets one morning and came back to footprints leading up to each windownof the house, screens removed and windows attempted to be opened.

She’s had a revolver in her nightstand since.

Then we went to go see some end of the world movie. I had previously ordered 1000 5.56 rounds. After the movie she suggested getting another 1000.

I think that her problem with the AR was that I didn't run it by her first. Well I'm not 13y/o and don't have to ask my mommy for permission. She's never had a problem with my purchases before. As a matter of fact one Christmas she bought me a Browning 243 and a S&W 22 target pistol.

I did run it by her that I'm thinking of buying a Walther M2 for a new carry gun and she didn't really didn't have a problem with that. Go figure that?

Take our gun rights away? No way..that sounds like the Captain standing on the bridge of the Titanic rearranging the deck chairs screaming everything is ok, nothing to be concerned about as he’s standing in waist deep water.

My wife was a Navy Master at Arms. She loves guns, and is a better shot than I am. What can I say? Some are luckier than others.

In all seriousness though, good luck.

How do you treat your finances, separate or pooled? Because if you mix your funds then it is only common courtesy to discuss a large $$ purchase, regardless of what it is.
