Happen to flick on the TV and came across this old episode of the rifleman... most of it seems to play out well today. Lucas seems to be pro 2nd Amendment for all the right reasons...Have fun with it. Season 5 episode 12 December 17, 1962

Yep! I’ve seen that episode 50 times, at least.

There’s another where the mean a$$ed school master told Lucas to get off school property with his rifle.

If his arms were not so long , he would have smacked himself in the face every time he re-cocked the rifle with the 360 degree lever's twirl.

He was an equal opportunity killer; I counted Mexicans and Indians along with the white guys.

My favorite episode was the one where Buddy Hackett played a “Bad Outlaw”... Yep...that Buddy Hackett!

Not a good idea to tick off old Lucas, but Mark needs a good smacking sometimes.

I use to watch this as a kid.

That was back when being a “man” meant what I still think being a man means. Plus being a man was considered to be a good thing!

Wild Bill Hickok instituted a no firearms policy when he became sheriff in Abilene, Kansas.

    Need references on that one..

only thing of note W Bill did as Marshall of Abilene was accidentally killing his deputy Mike Williams Thus effectively ending W Bill’s lawman days...
if there was a no carry law it would have been instituted by the “city fathers”. Just like it would have been in the Rifleman episode above, sheriffs did not have that authority then just as they don’t have it now.

I heard that on an TV show about Gunfighters. He may have told the city fathers what he wanted and they did it. If I see it again I'll double check if I heard that correctly. I'll try to find it.

For what it’s worth...Seems I may have errored also
First “sheriff” of Abilene was Thomas J. “Bear River” Smith
He indeed did ban carry in the city limits without a permit.... He got shot dead. Then W Bill came in.

Pretty much sums up the saying...…..

    If you outlaw guns
then the only people that will have guns are outlaws
