I'm not a veteran, but I thought if anyone out there served on the Oriskany (or any other carrier for that matter, they might be interested in these photos. The Oriskany is currently berthed in Pensacola awaiting its final mission, as a reef in the Gulf of Mexico.

My father was on the Oriskany when the ship left the Brooklyn Navy yard on it 1st cruise. This is a better end than the original plan, where she was being sold as scrap. At least the Oriskany will now have a final place in history as the worlds's largest man made reef.
Unfortunately they all can't be kept as museums and such.

While on the Blue Ghost, we steamed to Corpus once a month so the flyboys could get thier carrier quals in. Took several days liberty in Corpus on one trip...great city, great people. A good home for the ghost.

Edit...I was a Snipe also truckstop. ICman...you know...the fair weather electricians!!
