All I did was click on a window security website (as in physical window security....bars, screens, barriers, etc.) and I got visited by the champion of all champions malware software. I'm hours into the removal of this software now with little hope in sight. "Internet Security 2010" is quite the malware to remove.

My husband is on his 4th day of trying to remove that same virus from a neighbour's computer. I told him last night that maybe his last resort would be to just ditch everything and reinstall the operating system, then all the applications they need.

I had a fun one last summer. A friend of mine got a trojan called the "cryzip trojan". And what it does is encrypt all of your word documents, pictures, excel, etc. and leaves a text file asking for money in exchange for the password. I found older versions on the net that people had the password for but couldn't get one for the version I had. So after a couple days, I gave up and called Norton for help and my friend paid them $100 to fix it. After a week, Norton gave up and gave him his money back. So the files were pretty much a loss. That was fun.

Tell him to check out malwarebytes. It worked for me. There was a time when I was an expert. I was actually employed to solve every kind of software issue for commercial / corporate computers. This of course was back in the days when DOS 6.22 and Windows 3.11 was all the rage. These days however, I don't really know what I'm doing. I pull out all my old tricks but it's like tossing stones at a tank. It seems things changed. Anyway, the download worked for me.
