Since the other thread was locked because certain individuals were having personal attacks against each other, I thought that it was an interesting thread.

List what you won't buy and the reason's.

    I won't buy:
Baer - because everyone wants me to buy one.
Nighthawk - feel that they are overpriced.
Fusion - was close to buying one last year, then heard the DW Guardian was being released, so i decided to wait. In the time between then and now i've read many problems people have had. I may have more luck winning the lottery than getting the 1911 i want.
    Taurus - call me a 1911 snob.
Joe Chambers - Don't feel like supporting someone that make false statement's and uses his credentials to make it a truth.

    I probably won't buy again:
    Kimber - I prefer Springfield's over Kimber.
Para - Had issues with mine and the non-standard parts swayed me to another brand.
Sig - It was a nice gun, but sold it when i bought my Wilson. If it had a standard slide or fit in regular 1911 holsters, i would have kept it.

    I don't see myself buying:
Colt - no current gun they manufacture excites me. If i see an older Colt, I may buy it, but they are not on my wish list.

These are pretty much my thoughts verbatim, minus the LB's. I am not very fond of them, but if the opportunity arose on a good deal, id probably snag it. I guess same goes for NH, ive just never seen what i would call a good deal on one LOL

Wow - Quack's List is pretty much right down the road with my reptilian primitive brain stem thinking, with only a couple of exceptions - I'm glad I got a Baer and I'll probably get another, I haven't owned a Springfield but don't have anything against them and I like my Kimbers fine, and I'm carrying a New Agent in my britches right now (but it doesn't excite me, either).

Throw out the Baer comments, and maybe the Sig's, and I would have written the same thing as Quack.

I won't buy a Taurus or a Fusion. Everything else is a possiblity. I don't know who Joe Chambers is.

"List what you won't buy and the reason's."

Any 1911 that's not a Baer. Call me the anti-Quack. Because LB's are the only one made in IOWA!!!:tongueout:

Actually, I've owned several others in the past, and I guess I won't rule out all other brands. But, I don't think I'll ever buy another 1911 w/ FCS or ambi-safety.

he's been mentioned in other threads, mainly for saying Kimber's frames/slides/barrels are MIM, and that Wilson's are Korean frame's

    - Nothing other than 45ACP
    - Nothing without a full size frame
    - Nothing with a barrel shorter than 4" or longer than 5"
    - No modded used models
    - No rails
    - No lasers
    - No more than three of any one brand

The reason for most of this criteria is simply my extreme case of OCD. :embarassed:

...I was going to say no double stacks, but they aren't 1911s anyway. :whistling:

    Won't buy, regardless of brand:
    1) Two tone: I just don't like the look of two-tone guns. The only caveat is unless it's a great deal, then I would refinish it to a single tone.
    2) External extractor: Just don't like the line it adds to the slide.
    3) Longslide 6-inch barrel: I don't have any short-thing to compensate for.
    4) Adjustable rear sight: It's just FUGLY.

Won't buy, brands, cause I've become a snob.
    1) Taurus: When a company makes a "bling-out" 1911, I'm not going to support.
    2) Para: want to have interchangeable parts with my other 1911's
    3) Sig: special holster requirement.
    4) Colt: not a big fan of the overpriced name for quality.
    5) Fusion: really? I'm no gunsmith, but I can fit a beavertail grip safety better than Mr. Serva.

    Maybe:
    1) 2011 double stack: if it's a really good deal, or start to get into competition.

No more Commander size or smaller 1911s, mostly just full size, I may be open to a longslide one day. No Fusions, Paras, S&Ws, or Taurus. I don't like 10mms, or anything with an external extractor. I don't like bob-tails, rails, lasers or flat triggers much either.:whistling:

More like they were bronzed and hang from the rearview mirror of her Odyssey.

Brands I won't buy, in no special order

    1. Taurus - They do nothing for me
    2. Kimber - I had a good one and a mediocre one, not rolling the dice after the last two some friends bought turned out to be major POS's.
    3. Fusion - Needs no explanation
    4. Para - Questionable quality
    5. Unknowns - If it was modified by an unknown I'll typically pass, too many what-if's here.

Brand that I doubt I'll buy

    1. Ed Brown - The stories of Brown blaming the customer for any faults is too much for me. If it wasn't common I'd take it with a grain of salt, but I've seen too many. Claiming to shoot 200 rounds before shipping yet pistols coming through with tight extractors and having malfunctions out of the box.

I shot a friends SF model and wasn't impressed. I've always heard Brown's are so great for fit and finish, yet the dustcover was rubbing a nice scratch in the slide with less than 200 rounds. With the hype I've heard, I expected more.

    Features/Option I won't buy

    1. Anything that's not a .45acp
    2. Ramped barrels - Not needed, my ammo isn't hot enough.
    3. Target sights - I train with the pistol I carry, no sense in having a range pistol with target sights.
    4. Anything shorter than a 5" - I believe a 1911's maximum reliability is found in a 5".
