Remounted and put a new rope on my improvised flag pole yesterday. It's the mast off my old sail board and I have it on the 3rd floor deck to get the flags well above the ridge line of the house. Then I thought I should have a real cleat to tie the rope to instead of just using the deck rail.
I bought several nylon cleats back in 2011 when I bought my roll in dock, but only used a couple. I knew that I had seen the others in a bag somewhere, and started looking. Drove me CRAZY for about an hour and after looking through all the cabinets, shelves and boxes in the basement I did the same on the ground floor of my shed where I store the boat stuff during the winter....no luck.

About an hour ago it dawned on me...plastic tote in the attic of the shed with some other seldom used boating items. Bang...right there. Took 2 minutes to grab the drill, a couple screws and mount the cleat. I can rest easy now...until the next time I need something I know I have, but can't find it.

Anybody else occasionally have and early (or late) Easter Egg hunt for stuff that suddenly becomes important??

Many times, and then I discovered that I threw it away and wondered why I did that.:dunno:

Good job. You know of course, without pictures, it didn’t happen.

My mind happens to wander like that from time to time.

    That too.

I should blame her for everything and do most of the time.

Took the flag pic yesterday, but had to run back up the stairs to get the one of the cleat. Oh ye of little faith that demand photographic proof.

I've been looking for a particular knife I carried for many years, then put away.
Been hunting it for three years.
Found it when I was doing quarantine cleaning in the basement.
Cleaned it, lubricated it, now in my pocket again.
    Ahhh.

When I was living in my camper I lost the key to my FJ.

    Came home with it
Got up the next morning and was leaving for a 10 hour drive
    Couldn’t find it
    Searched for hours

Finally got a ride to get the spare out of my truck.

Found it two years later when I was moving out.

While searching for it I kept asking myself, “How can you lose something inside a camper!”

Can't find a tool and finally go to the parts house and buy another. Then find the original. Next time you need it you can't find the original or the replacement. Go buy another. Find other two. Repeat ad infinitum.

Ha-Ha...I did finally throw away a cheap Philips head screw driver that was boogered up at the tip and the perfect tool for stripping the heads on new screws. Whoever invented Philips head stuff should be horsewhipped anyway....especially on marine fittings.

All my projects begin with such a search or I have one or two in the middle of the project. Sigh...

Happens to me. I've been looking for my SUV cargo net for three days. It's driving me nuts.

I know...both are getting a little tattered and will replace them this summer. Please don't fink me out to the flag police.

We moved and downsized last September. It is amazing how many things I found that I was sure was forever lost. After we settled in to our new place, I am now looking for several things that seem to have been misplaced, AGAIN!
