I think a quad 50 against remote planes would be my first choice.

Best to call your credit card company first, you'll probably need a credit line increase to handle that one...the per-round $$ is gonna kill you...

Late 1959 I was in Colorado at a tech school at Lowry AFB. Being fresh out of a one month basic I knew nothing about military arms. A lot of us were wondering what the sound was we were hearing all during the day. We found that the tech school for the Gatling gun was at Lowry. The troops learning the gun would fire a two second burst mostly. It’s an eerie sound.
If you do the math that was about 60 years ago! OMG

    Still a fine weapon.

I wonder if they shoot milsurp ammo or they have an oversized Dillon 550 reloading press stashed someplace.

That particular vehicle mounted 20mm Vulcan cannon was not firing at 6,000rpm, but more like 2,000, which is typically the minimum firing rate for the 20mm Vulcan cannon; they were probably trying to save ammo - because obviously, it ain't cheap. 'Still impressive though...

While employed with Grumman Aerospace I would occasionally work out in one of their Calverton, NY plants where they performed the final assembly and testing of the F-14 aircraft before the Navy pilots came in and flew them out to flattops that were waiting off the coast of Virginia. Whenever they tested the aircraft's Vulcan cannon, they'd nose the aircraft pointing downward at about a 5° angle, partway into a separate building/facility that had a 20' tall mountain of sand as the berm...red warning lights would flash and sirens would sound for 5 seconds, then they'd fire away. We could hear them firing in bursts, at the gun's highest possible rate, and it was virtually impossible to hear individual rounds going off...instead all you heard was just a 2 second or so long solid and sustained "BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT". Grumman had crews that loaded their own 20mm Vulcan rounds and every once in a while they'd let loose with a box of empty brass which would be handed out as souvenirs to the guys.

Awesome pieces of machinery they are.

Trust me you don't even want to be exposed to the muzzle blast of those things.
