I'm with you. Hate, hate, hate gophers!! Wife and I have horses (boys in the avatar) and those freaking things create a genuine danger for our boys.

We are in a beautiful rural area, but houses too close to be using firearms to bag the bad guys. City regulations say no. We rely on poison and gas.

Does that BB gun make a clean kill? My PS-90 might be overkill but I can place the round through the brain cavity. They don't know what hit them.

    That's ****ed.
You drive it somewhere like a golf course or to someone you don't like.

If you have access to the ground entrance, I discovered that you can generate chlorine gas by mixing Clorox with Muriatic acid! A heavy green foam pours down the hole killing everything! I use a length of hose to stay away from the mixing. Be aware that hydrogen is also produced, so that can not be done near flame or sparks.

That's funny. Had a bad rat problem one year and they were digging tunnels so I poured a bunch of gasoline down the hole, waited a minute, then tossed a match in. Flame shot out of 5 or six other holes and lit up my mulch pile where I had dumped leaves. DOH !

Yes, gasoline is dangerous! Many years ago I used chlorine gas to kill a bunch of rat in the ground. There is no explosion. There is the smell of rotting rats.

When I was in the propane business, we rented out 250 gallon tanks on trailers for the farmers to pull behind their tractors for weed burning. We had a farmer that had a ground hog problem in one of his fields and since propane is heavier than air, he decided he would asphyxiate them by releasing the propane into their tunnel network. Apparently, while he was doing that he thought that it would be even more effective if he lit the propane on fire.

The resulting explosion blew him into a large irrigation canal nearby knocking him unconscious. Fortunately, his son was working nearby and fished him out. There was a sizable crater in the field where the tunnel network had run. Don't know if that solved his problem or not.

A .177-cal at over 1000 fps right to the head will be a clean kill every time. And they are less likely to hear the shot a duck.

A relative in another State(NC) just discovered a family of raccoons in the pontoon boat that was stored since last Fall. They created GREAT damage as they refurbished to their liking, seats, foam, cushions.

Since no one is versed in eradication methods the exterminator was called. The funny thing is, she’s mildly not into hunting or trapping. When it comes to her stuff, that family of coons has to go, PRONTO. She eats meat, but assumes it just comes from the grocery store. I think she believes Bernie will give her free stuff too.

Around here I eradicate pests at 1st whiff, if the dog doesn’t beat me to it.

After the first kill, more ground hogs will be bused in.
They will torch your shed and other outhouses.

1/4" left. That's what happens when you're left-handed. Leaning with the Devil, should all end up in Hell. Good luck. :)

I trapped one last year outside our Church. He was digging in for the winter. Took him down to the river and let him go. Mrs N nicknamed him Scooter.
