I have 4,000 rounds through mine with the old style extractor and no issues. Two things, I do not use any kind of chamber flag and I don't let the slide slam closed on an empty chamber.

    Ok, I’m curious.

Why would either of these contribute to problems?

Letting the slide slam shut on the chamber flag was the reason they redesigned the extractor.

Pitmaster Will answered for me. Yes the reason Glock gave for extractor failure was letting the slide slam closed on a chamber flag.

I have over 3,000 rds. through my 44 and with no problems there were not ammo related .
Weak rds. , complete duds , some 2nd. strike fires .
Mine has the old extractor and I have 10 mags for it .

    Thanks.

I haven’t been following the reported issues that closely. I did know of the extractor update, but not the root cause. I do use a chamber flag more often than not. But I don’t drop the slide full power on it.

Link to the thread I just found of anyone else is looking for more details.

And just to reiterate, Glock redesigned both the extractor and the slide. The new extractor is not backward-compatible with the old slide.

And some are of the opinion the redesign was intended to address more than just a chamber flag issue.

Much more than that. Addressed a more serious problem from day one that they addressed and blamed it on a chamber flag?
Yep WBN, you are correct on that.
Letting a slide slam shut on full recoil spring power on a plastic chamber flag won't do much to a steel extractor with a steel barrel with a steel breech.

Today, on age 76 birthday, daughter and I put about 250 rounds down range in ‘still-new’ G44. Dtr smoked my ass with consistent groups of 2-4 inches in eyes and nose of perp target. I had about one flyer per mag but have “age” excuse. (Which dtr does not buy...”only placement counts Dad.”). NO misfires despite using dreaded Winchester ammo. Life is good!

I wasn't sure where to post this and I didn't want to create a new thread, but am I the only one who hadn't heard for a stippled G44 slide? WTF.

P.S. That threaded barrel looks like SH!T.

Perhaps another example of, "This is your Glock. This is your Glock on drugs."

"This is your Glock". This is your Glock on crack." Doh! Probably not a good idea to further weaken your G44 plastic slide by "stippling" it. ;)
