I was able to finally handle a Gen 4 Glock 30 ($629) yesterday.

It felt as wide or even wider in my hands than the Glock 30 SF or Glock 30s.

That wide slide also made it difficult for me to release the slide (After checking that
the gun was empty by removing the mag, checking the chamber, then inserting the
empty mag) but it was a NIB gun.

I'm hoping that the used Glock 36 that I'm picking up Tuesday, will suit me fine.

Otherwise, unless I want to buy (Even more expensive) .45 GAP ammo online for a Glock 39...
I'll not be shooting a .45 caliber Glock.

Your missing out. The G30 is the most accurate Glock IMO.

It's the most accurate Glock I own anyways.

I have a 21, 17, 19, and the 30, and the 30 out shoots them all. And it shoots the 45acp O so sweet.

But the accuracy of the 30 is extremely surprising. It was for me anyways. Ymmv.

The 30 is same width slide as the 21. The 30s has the 36's slide with a 30SF frame. The 36 your getiing is more narrow and is the smallest .45 ACP Glock makes.

    My next is a G30 gen 4. I have a 21SF and 21 gen 4 along with the 9mm's. I really want the G30 gen 4.

Whatever you're accurate with and if it fits your hand, then that's the gun for you. I own a G21SF and it fits like a glove, I'd probably get a G30SF in the future.

An option, though with a cost involved is to have Robar, Boresight or others do a grip reduction on the 30. That can make a world of difference IMHO.

    HI.

Yes, or wait for a reduced grip for a G30 to come out on Gun Broker or such and
    ad a G36 slide.

I've seen the Robar frames a few times.

We will see how the G36 goes.

Who knows, my wife might actually take a liking to it:)

I have smaller hands. For whatever reason, I have found that the more I handled my G30 gen4, the more I've found it to fit comfortably--especially with the Pierce base plate on the std. 10-round mag. The finger-grooves fit my hand quite well. Yes, on balance, I'd probably prefer to have a slightly thinner grip. But it definitely has "grown" on me. That said, it's primarily a range gun for me.

I believe if you need a size 10 in men's shoes that a 12 will be a discomfort. Better to walk away then feel negative about your decision. I have (2) 30s and (2) 17's I bought to compete again, and realize some of the BAD habits one can develop by such, and have decided NOT to do so.

Whatever platform/s you decide on pursue them aggressively. I have (3) 26's and they serve a purpose on each floor of my home. If I add I will pursue the G33 and probably sell the 45's, possibly the 17's as well.

You are already wiser for what you have done than I, let us know of your next pursuit.

I don't worry about 7 rounds not doing what I need. I trust my ability to hit where I need and the 45acp critical duty ammo. I usually carry a spare mag, but the typical gun useage is a round or two at 3 to 10 feet and over in a second or two. So I understand what you are feeling, but think you are over-thinking it. Besides a backup gun is already your second gun.... Unless your a drug dealer in Columbia ( and your not ) I would think the 36 would be plenty.

I had the 30SF and had no issues with the grip or slide, I also ended up sanding the finger grooves off and stippling the grip under cut the trigger guard, to make it fit me even better, carried it IWB for three or more years, before I sold it and my G4 21, both those .45s were accurate as hell...

g30 series pistols new are anywhere from 540-615+tax/xfer fees if applicable. the gen 3 are more $ than most gen 4 (non big big bore). i got my g30s for 540 from ky gun co & my lgs was asking 605 +tax, so i paid 540/free ship & 30 xfer ttl 570 which at time i thought was excellent deal

If a small and compact Glock pistol works for you, go for it. For me I have small hands but the Glock 30 gen 3 works great for me. I used to shoot a Taurus PT-99 for years (Beretta 92FS knockoff) and that gun was huge in my hands. Get what is comfortable for you. Good luck.
