I have become a huge fan of my G17. I first got a 19 3rd gen and thought it was the best but I wanted to try a 17. The longer grip frame seemed like it would fit my hand better. So one day last week I set out on my quest I came across a few G22’s but no 17. That was at 3 different shops across Columbia. My suspicions were right however. The grip on the 17 did feel perfect. Then on a whim I swung past PSA here in Columbia at the original location on Farrow rd. I got to talking with a buddy that works behind the counter there and mentioned I really wanted G17 but a 4th gen, and hadn’t seen one anywhere, including both PSA shops. He said “I think we have one in the back, if I get it do you want it?” I said “Heck yes!!” Sure enough he came out of the back with a huge grin and a G17 gen 4 test fire date of 6-12-12!! I was ecstatic! Did the paperwork and paid, out the door I went. I got home and ran at least 150 round through it. Those 3 17 round mags make it easy to burn up some ammo. I’ve since put about 850 rounds down range including the 100 today, till I was tired of the sweat getting in my eyes or I would be over 1000. This one is running perfectly, all brass lands at about 3:30—4 o’clock. I have 10 mags for it so that’s a good start. ;-) Problem now, I need a second G17! Good thing there is a gun show this weekend!!!

    Gratz man!

I am partial to my G19, and owned a Gen 1 G17 in the late 80's, but sold it.....Someday I'll get another G17....great gun.

I went the same route-17 to 19 and I love them both. The 19 will stay at home, though, and probably become a winter carry when the wardrobe is more conducive. :fishing:

    Congrats on the new 17!

What kind of mag holder pouch is that? It is cool as hell :)

So is the 17, have one just like it. But I want a collection like yours :)

the mag pouch is from Midway, nothing special but it holds the gun and mags great. I have one for the 19 set up the same. And a few for my 1911's.

Good to hear you are enjoying your G17. You ought to try or at least handle a G34 before you commit to a second G17 in my opinion.

I had one a few years ago. I didn't care for it. Maybe it was the sights or slide lenght. I only kept it for a few weeks. That was my last Glock till I got the 19 and now this 17.

The g17 is the best fitting size for myself also. I carry a 19 as that is as small as I find workable. I have big arthritic hands and small bikes like the 26 just don't work. I went with a full size .45 XD. As my home gun

Just got the G17 today, Can't wait to try it out. I myself have bought several from Palmetto State Armory, they are excellent people to deal with. bought a G20, G21, G22,G27 and G19 from them. and so far no issues with anything from there.

I may be trading into a G26 here soon too.. It's been years since I shot one.

BTW, you live in some beautiful country. I grew up over west of you on Hood Canal.

Gee, ten mags? That's all? J/K...

Although I like my G19, my G17's longer grip fits my hand better and the two "extra" rounds are always welcome.

I figure if I get another 17 I'll have to have an additional 10 mags....
