What model? Was it the first handgun you ever shot? Where were you and what did you think?

Please tell your story. Funny, scary, exciting or crazy - I'm sure it is one you remember!

The first handgun I shot was a military-issue .44 revolver when I was 17. I think it was a Colt. Up until that point, I was a crack-marksman with a Ruger .22 on my high school's rifle team. I also shot with 12, 16, and 20 gauge shotguns when I went deer and duck hunting with friends.

    (I didn't like the .44 revolver so much.)

So a few months ago, I started shopping for my first handgun. I went to the local firing range and tried the G19. I really liked it! So far, I have only shot a G19 and my husband's G36. The .45 is hotter of course - I am not quite ready for that. I am more comfortable with a 9mm right now but believe that over time, I will get to like the .45. I realize the G19 is a clean and simple one to use, which is not a bad thing, eh? However, I will try the G23 next time at the range, since I've never shot a .40 cal.

I really am SOLD on the Glock. I may try and buy others later, but my first handgun is definitely going to be one of Gaston's babies.:)

I think you already made your choice. The G19 is an excellent first gun. Just for kicks, try also the G17 and G26 or even the big G34. That way, you tried all the nines in Gaston's lineup. Glocks in 9mm are among the best guns in the market.

1911, of course. I shot a .45 and a .38 Super. That was in the early 80's. Had to wait for several years in order to buy one.

Glock 17. Boring in its reliability. Boring in other ways too. Sold it.

i used to shoot air rifles and pistols at around 10. then i got to shoot a handgun a 22 lr at about 14.

at 18 i got a 22 mag revolver and sold it after a few rounds. then got my first 9mm at about 20 yrs old or so. It was a 92fs due to the die hard and lethal weapon movies. then it was a usp in 9 mm, then usp 45 and an armscor 1911 in 45acp. story getting too long:)

my late fathers Danao made S&W .357 magnum, his his back-up gun a .38 S&W snubby which is also Danao made & his colleague's Daewoo 9mm or 40 (not sure).
we are in a private range owned by an influencial mayor that my father used to escort.
what do i think? hell it sure hurts after firing the .357 magnum. and i really was surprise that Daewoo also makes guns and not only car or vice-versa. :freak:

G21 of a friend, I could'nt hit the target(paper plate size) at 20 yards:soap:, was jerking the gun, so I promptly returned the glock to him and whipped out my 1911 and shot the snot out of the target in retaliation:supergrin:

I went to the range without prior experience in firing a 'real' gun. The purpose was to select the biggest caliber pistol that i could handle. Purchased 5 rounds each (.380 9mm .38 .45 .357).

    Started with the Walther PPK.
    Then tried CZ's 9mm.
    Then S&W 4" 686 in .38.
    1911 .45 came next and
    S&W 4" 686 in .357 came last.

Browsed through different brands / models in the internet for the next couple of months.

Went to the range to try G17.

The G17 now sleeps beside me.

first glock i ever fired? g19, light trigger pull though very much different from that of 1911. Grip angle is very much different from 1911 too, my shots landed on upper left portion of the target board. Di lang siguro sanay sa glock. I have 3 1911s anyway. Im longing of having a glock someday, preferable g21 or g30.

First gun ever fired? squibman .22LR of my father when i was 16. Nearly shot my foot when i accidentally pulled the trigger while the rifle pointed downwards. Whew!My ignorance then regarding ammo in the chamber while the mags was already out.

First handgun I ever shot.... was a 1911 converted to 22... in Boot Camp. They let us shoot 10 rounds. I did not even hit the paper at 25 yards.

First Glock I ever fired... A Glock 21... the first handgun I bought. I did not know it was legal to buy a gun until my friend told me. I chose the G21 because of the caliber & the capacity.

Here is a pic of my Glock 21...

    It was 1997 ...

Some buddies decided they wanted to shoot in something called a GSSF Glock match and asked me to go too. I didn't have a Glock and I'd never fired one. One of my other buddies offered to loan a G17 to me so I could shoot the match.

After I got it from him, I fired one magazine full into the back stop to make sure it worked. Then I didn't touch it until the match. I got 10th place out of about 325 people.

I'm not sure how that happened. It won't ever again, that's for sure!
