In music terms, rock and roll is rooted in a few different styles the most important of which (IMHO) are blues and country.
So any song that defines it must be in a 12 bar blues vein mostly (1, IV, V), and use both the pentatonic minor (blues) and pentatonic major (country).
Examples of bands that blend these 2 styles into rock well are CCR, AC/DC (believe it or not), the Eagles and the Stones.
Lots to choose from here.
Baby Blue - Badfinger
Highway to Hell - AC/DC
Take it Easy - Eagles
Bad Moon rising - CCR
Can't you hear me knocking - Stones.
If I had to pick one - Baby Blue.
I can't even define Rock and Roll.
The entire genre is far too diverse to narrow it down to one song.
Guns and roses... sweet child of mine
Won't argue that. Many of them were. "Sex, drugs, and rock & roll" was the phrase of that era, of which she was a prime example. Unfortunately, the only one she really excelled at was drugs.
Def Leppard - Foolin , Pyromania
Very under rated band. Now that’s a jam right there.
There are far too many to pick.
That works just fine!
Sex , drugs , rock and roll and debauchery = Motley Crue!!
For me, Page. His vision is a great inspiration. His contribution to AOR is unrivaled.
The Stones would get my vote for greatest R&R Band ever but my vote for the best song ever is, "Rock around the Clock" by Bill Haley and the Comets, which was the theme song from the Movie, "Blackboard Jungle"! Rock and Role was bourn in the 1950's and so was this Song that says it all!
The Stones were great. Truth is I grew up in the 60's and I would have to think a long time to come up with any group or singer that I did not like.
I was a sucker for all of them and still love it. I like a variety of music but the 60's music for me is just plain ' feel good ' music.
I will never tire of it.
Sweet Home Alabama, Stairway to Heaven and Baba O'riley.
Southern Rock, Babies.
I do love her, but she was more blues to me. And I still listen to her often.
I want to Rock&Roll all night and party every day.
From 16-60 still a good song but not livin it anymore
