An interesting article out of today's Barrons quoting an economist that has a great track record over the past 10+ years.

She seems to think that the end of currency backed by nothing more than the governments word is approaching--like in the next 5 years. Currencies backed by hard assets--gold, commodities,-- look to be the future as the current system gets eaten up by continually printing more money.

    Some very interesting stats ..

Ain't that a fact! System full of liars telling you the money is safe and worth "X" is always reassuring.

All fiat currencies are doomed to failure by definition. This one is already past the average life-span.

Get your gold now boys and girls. Fiat based paper assets are set to get destroyed.

I'm unable to view the article, lacking a subscription, but there can be no truth to this..
Several experts on this subject have explained here on GT why it isn't possible.

Doesn't matter. The Mayans said we're all toast come December anyway.

Wonder what the Mayans used for currency?

I imagine that there were those in Argentina who thought it couldn't happen there. Maybe FerFAL can pipe in here? I know he's in Ireland now. I wished that he would start a thread and tell us how he's doing now.
