Time Warner bans ads with guns in them.

    http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/01/25/time-warner-cable-bans-some-ads-with-guns/

So, let me be the 2nd to ask (since I know you're the 1st!)...if you think an advertisement with a gun in it is so potentially damaging

and for years we've argued that having movies or film with people smoking in them leads to people being more open to the idea of smoking,

when are you (you ****ing hypocrites, Time Warner) going to quick making a buck off those shoot-em-up movies, promulgated by your tree hugging friends out of hollywood?

Obviously the big money is in the gun movies and not in the gun ads.

Money rules. Fad followers are transient. Nothing about this is a business based decision, or impacts the viewers quality of life. This is just Time Warner thinking they will appear relevant and faking an orgasm, at very little cost to them.

I enjoy the Henry Rifle ads and they appear on regular televion, not just the Sportsmans Channel.

I wish they were affordable, I hear good things.

Lets see if I have this in perspective.

OK so Time-Warner makes millions of displaying the misuse, abuse, mishandling of firearms

but Time-Warner doesn't want anyone to see ads involving guns that might make people actually buy them, t least get an instruction manual and perhaps some training, because, after watching Time-Warner produced entertainment products they may no longer be stable enough to be trusted with a firearm.

OK, I can see a cause an effect possibly.

I like the idea they are another American manufacturer making a legendary design reasonably priced.

    Side note:
I used to have a Winchester Model 1886 in .33 caliber that came from a Salt Lake City Mormon family when they settled there. The action was a beautiful mechanical thing and smooth as glass. So I am biased.

I am convinced that those who are out of touch with reality are in less danger of being driven crazy by it.

    Unfortunately, your title:
May be a good analogy. If they can convince enough big companies like that to bow down in hopes of avoiding negative publicity or appealing to some imaginary majority of anti-gunners (they don't need a real majority, just the ability to convince people they have one), the dike can crumble and the tide can overrun everything. In the end, not even the constitution can stand up to that mob of screaming monkeys called "the majority."

Ice T is a good actor and not an idiot - as much as I hate rap, I even like his theme song from Colors - songs like Cop Killer made him rich and famous because that's what the kids want and because they created controversy. That may have been the best career move he ever made.

I'm glad he's really pro-gun, but the point is, Time Warner will do anything for a buck and the little guy can sometimes stand up to them.

These days, with more than 1 choice of where to get your TV, there is nobody in America who can't say "no" to Time Warner and boycott their print, television, internet services, etc. Just let them know you're going to the competition because they are opposing your rights - no different than boycotting a hotel chain that won't rent rooms to your race 60 years ago.

The one thing that is completely different now than was there in, say, the '70s. We are NOT reliant on big media any more to get the word out about anything.

The internet and world wide web changed the game forever.

Gunbroker does not require Time Warner's permission to sell firearms and accessories, neither do armslist or a whole host of other sites sering the same function.

In other words it really doesn't matter if TW quits or not. I'm guessing that eats the board of directors alive just knowing it.
