I just bought "The Dangerous Book for Boys." I wish I had this book when I was a kid. It teaches boys (or girls) everything that clucking busybodies don't want then to know: how to make a battery, the history of artillery, stories about a pilot with no legs, how to make a lighter, how to hunt and skin a rabbit...etc.

Also tells you the basics on a wide variety of topics from grammer to history to literature to latin to astronomy, even how to make your own "Battle-Ship" game.

It seems that there is a war on little boys. They can't play rough. They can't be loud. Hell, in Europe boys are discouraged from standing while peeing. It is nice to see a book that encourages a boy to....be a boy.

If you have a kid or enjoy being a kid yourself, GET THIS BOOK!!!

The book actually comes from Europe. It was first published in England and was a big hit there.

I bought this for my son (and me!). A great book. My son had just started reading it when he was outside chipping flint rocks to make arrowheads for his bow and arrow!

My wife bought me this book. Excellent read. Quite a few of the chapters took me back to my youth. Can't wait till my son is old enough to enjoy it =)

Wow! Not something I've ever heard of in 40 odd years of living in Europe though.

Come to think of it It mightn't be such a bad idea - I had a boss once who couldn't see over his beer-belly well enough to hit the toilet :D

Amen. Even as young as I am, I can remember actually reading useful stuff in it. Now, everything's so PC and all, I wonder how long the true foundations of BSA will last.

Didn't run into those either time I was in Germany.

If something started barking orders at me in a public bathroom about sitting down and peeing, I'd take revenge and just piss all over the seat, floor, and everything else. So there! Ha! Some cleaning lady would go postal.

We bought "Dangerous" for our nephew for Christmas. Found "The Daring Book for Girls" in the same store (B&N) for our niece. "Daring" was written by a couple of Americans, with kudos to and permission from the originators of the idea.

The back of the boys book says 'for boys from 8 to 80,' so I may get myself a copy, too!

    Both are great.

My wife is pregnant with our first. She is due Feb. 8th, and yes it is a boy! As soon as I saw this book, I told her I wanted it for christmas. I figure I'll use it as a text book to teach him every thing a real man should know. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one excited about it!

I just gave it to my grandson on this first birthday, along with a little battery operated 4 wheeler. I know he's too young now but we had a great time reading thru it at the party, brings back a lot of great childhood memories. Maybe he'll play outside a lot instead of computer games like too many kids do these days. We all did crazy stuff when we were kids and most of us still have all our fingers and toes.

My sister got me this book for Christmas 06, 4 days before my son was born. I can't wait till he is old enough to build that treehouse with me.
