They're both good. I prefer remington 700s. It a much more mod friendly platform. Out of the box accuracy on both are good. The tika comes free floated which is nice, and materials are probably a little higher in quality. But if you want a rifle to modify, you can't beat a remington 700.

If your plan is to scope it and keep it and us it as is I'd choose the T3 but as ju993 said if you plan to modify it then the 700 has lots of options.

Tikkas are nice but i chose the 700. I was looking for "bang for the buck".

When the end of the world comes, there will be two bolt action rifles dualing it out till the end and those two will be the Mauser 98 and the Remington 700... The Tikka's are very nice but as mentioned the 700 is a breeze to make into a serious rifle... I'd love to have all 3, and it wouldn't hurt My feelings if they were all in the 6 pernt 5 Swede...

    I prefer the Remington 700.

Too much plastic on the Tikka for my taste and I don't like how the recoil lug mounts into the stock and then protrudes into the barreled action. Completely ass backwards...

    Better for what?

One is a heavy barrel rifle.
One is a light barrel rifle.

Are you going to be humping this rifle over hill and dale?
Are you going to walk twelve steps from the car to the bench?
Are you trying to kill paper, a deer at 100 yards, or chip monks at 300 yards?
