The Aussies have a solid muscle car tradition.

Okay, so I’ve finished week one down here in New South Wales, Canberra, Sydney and Blue Mountain areas. Driving a year+ old Holdon Commodore SS. I've logged about 1000k on it so far.
    I'm in love!
It's pretty much a right hand drive Pontiac G8 GTP. A mid-sized 4-door sedan with 400+ horsepower going to the rear wheels from a 6.0 liter V8.
It barks and snarls...and has an Avis rental agreement in the glove box....so it's probably good for off road work too!
Maybe Buick will smuggle this hoot into the US under a new "Grand National" badge.

Pontiac’s are so good they don’t make them anymore. Drive a mustang.

Which 4-door model do you suggest?

Unfortunately, GM canned production of those cars at the end of the 2017 model year. If you want one, you're going to have to find a used Chevy SS.

The Pontiac G8 probably had the nicest interior I’d ever seen in a GM product. It still puzzles me that GM scuttled Pontiac and kept Buick. I guess Buick has a better following in China. But here in North America I think GM could have moved Buick buyers up into Cadillacs, and refined Pontiac into a more performance oriented brand.

I got to give Aussies credit. The cars in their V8 Supercars Series are far more interesting then those in NASCAR.

While a different country, New Zealand has the world's highest per-capita ownership of Mustang GTs. HH

There's a few race tracks around here... Maybe a visit is within order.

    Of a related side note....
The local starter fluid goes by the brand name of "Start ya Bastard!"
    Who couldn't love that?!?

The last generation of GTO's was pretty neat. Should have grabbed one.

One word......Holden. They were the inspiration, and IIRC, who built the last generation of anything resembling a muscle car (excluding Corvette) GM had anything to do with.

That is what came to mind when I read the thread title.

"The last of the V-8 interceptors."
