Other than Walmart I haven't even heard of any of the other names.

Are they trying to tell me Wal Mart shoppers have standards?

Because all of them are regional chains that you must not live near.

LOL my Publix in Deerfield is in the same shopping center as a LA Fitness gym. The girls that come in to shop after their workout will make your head spin and your eyes pop out. I shop there everyday, sometimes twice a day.

Funny, my wife and I like the Walmart supermarket just south of Green Valley, AZ. Good food, excellent prices. Staff is friendly as well.

    Maybe it's a regional thing?

Hmmm. Shaw's and Stop & Shop are the only two stores near us on Cape Cod. Not highly rated.

I hate those slide show formats that are becoming prevalent on the net-

Anyway, of the stores mentioned I have only been in three.

Food Lion- was there once on vacation it didn't make an impression on me one way or the other.

A&P- Are they still in business??

Walmart- There are two Supercenters near me and I have no problem with them. They are clean, neat and well lit. They have a decent selection of fresh vegetables and deli meats. I wouldn't buy a steak there but poultry and roasts are OK. They have some decent baked goods. Never tried their "fresh" fish. As for everything else you get at a grocery store that comes in a can or box, it is the same wherever you buy it. As for service, not something I need on a trip for groceries.

The other places I go to locally are Kroger, Foodland and IGA. Kroger is basically the same as Walmart except it isn't as clean, is more congested and you have to use their card to get prices equivalent to Walmart. Their pre-made fried chicken is better than the other groceries around town.

The IGAs and Foodlands around here are not as clean, have poorer selections, but have better quality meat.

I shop at Kroger or Walmart - Kroger is not on the list, but I like Walmart better and if you ened customer service to grocery shop, you get no sympathy from me.

People don't go to Wal-Mart for service or really anything but price and convenience. For being #2 on the worst list they sure do continue to have a large market share (#1 i think)

I noticed most of the stores had complaints about prices. I'm not sure you're going to get consumers to give positive marks on anyone's prices these days anyway. Everyone thinks food is too high.

Just as with other posters, Walmart is the only one close to me. We shop there frequently and have had few of the problems described. Food is fresh, store is clean and well lit, and the prices are pretty good, too.

How much customer service does a guy need in a self service environment?

I would like to read how they did the study. My sense is that among Publix, for instance, some are run much better than others. I concur regarding the scenery mostly, although the one near work is neither well run nor especially good scenery-wise. My guess is that some of the other chains on the list may have a few stores that are much better than others in the chains.

The only mention of a source I see is Yelp. I don't know how much I trust Yelp.
