In a little under two weeks, I am leaving all things LE/Courts. I did ten years on the street, then got out and worked in the private sector for a non-profit. Had a blast. Then, I relocated to AZ and went back into the legal system with a juvenile court.

After two years of ****ty management, I've had enough. (It is bad when you'd rather hang out with a dozen convicted juveline felons than your bosses.) I found an awesome group of people at the American Cancer Society's local office. I accepted a job with them organizing community events for fundraising and awareness. 99% of the same thing I did at the other non-profit. It is something I am good at.

I will still have a place in my heart for LE. I loved my time spent out in the crappy weather getting dirty. I also learned alot about working with people. I use those skills to this very day. They are skills I will take with me into this new gig.

You wont shake me from CT, but I will say that my time has come to pass the baton to someone else.

    Keep fighting the fight.

Congrats on finding another job that you enjoy. Lots of folks never enjoy anything they did for a living. You are lucky to have a second career that you like.
I enjoyed LE and retired in 2008. I am a substitute teacher and enjoy that as well.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Congratulations on finding your "place", especially with a noble group fighting a good fight. Hate to lose you from the Thin Blue Line, but you are moving from one important mission to another one. Good luck and God speed!

Congrats. If LE wasn't making you happy, you're better off doing something else. Please accept my best wishes that you find what you're looking for with this next job opportunity. Good luck to you, sir.

Good luck, God bless. You will probably miss it and go to being a reserve cop, but if not, regardless I wish you the best. As long as you are pursuing God's calling for you in life, you will be blessed more than you can think of.

You are appreciated for the service in LE, and my very best wishes for a much more relaxed and contented future. :)

It's an ugly business and I don't blame anyone for getting out when they've had their fill. I've often had thoughts about trying to get back into what I went to school for, but with the economy in the shape it is now, seniority is a nice thing to have.

You're full of crap. You might leave, technically, but you'll never really leave.

You're gonna miss it! I was on inactive reserve status for 18 months to finish up graduate school. I didn't want to return to full-time service. I've been back almost a year, and despite ALL the BS, this is looking like a life-long gig.

Good luck, Ox. I understand being sick of the BS, but I think you'll probably end up as a reserve someplace eventually ;).

Clint Eastwood, as Dirty Harry, said it best:
"A man has got to know his limitations...."
In THIS case...the "limits" of your patience and psyche...
Having friends in LE who reached the same stage as you.....I understand your frustration.....a "change of atmosphere" is probably the BEST thing you can do -- for yourself and others!!
Best of luck in ALL your future endeavors!
