Cool, not only am I older than texting, I'm older than Internet Explorer too.
Just got out of a day long meeting. The last thing the boss said was that one of our fellow employees was texting back and forth with her boyfriend. Went a couple messages then it stopped. She drove up on the wreck where her boyfriend blew a stop sign in front of a semi and was killed.
And I've never sent one in my life.
I for one am glad. Texting is a very convenient for me.
I'm callin BS. Prove it
IVe always avoided it because its a ripoff. Vzw always wanted a quarter each direction if u didnt have a plan. Last few phones have had some kind of internet or email ability and ive had that....fortunately the gateway allows texts to be sent from email and vice versa within the 160 char limit.
I think i have all texts blocked on my phone. Hate em. Only used when essential
Funny, 20 years ago i was a roaming coordinator for a cell company that had a presence in the Gulf states now owned by Century. In that era when texts were developed the industry only had 5% penetration. Its probably 95 now.
I still hate it, and refuse to participate in it unless forced.
There was a rather chunky girl who was texting and rolled her vehicle. She survived fairly unharmed, and was sitting on the grass texting about her experience.
I really don't understand the obsession.
I sill don't get it and have had texting blocked since the first time I got charged to receive junkmail.
In other news, Sexting turns 20 tomorrow.
And it came to it's glory recently with,

Heck, I just started texting a year ago. I still would rather call.
On a serious note, I believe Hurricane Katrina is credited with bringing texting to the mainstream. As cell service went down calls would not go through but we could still get text messages across the network.
Of course then it all went down.
