Apparently two hunters were near by, and i guess protocol is lockdown when they see someone with a gun.

Leaving the first line out made for a more sensational post on GT:

An Amarillo, Texas nuclear plant was put on precautionary lockdown after armed hunters were spotted in a field across from the plant, the Carson County Sheriff's Department said.

You know, this is worse than you think. Pantex is a nuclear plant all right, but not a nuclear power plant. It's where we disassemble old nuclear weapons and make the fission material into fuel rods for nuclear power plants. At one time it was where we assembled all our nuclear weapons, but we don't make new ones any more.

BTW, half the nuclear fuel used in the US comes from decommissioned Russian nukes.

Not only did we win the Cold War, we are making money on it. I love America!

When the OP quoted the article, that part was kind of abbreviated {in the article}.

We did not WIN the Cold War,.....Russia simply went bankrupt. Now
we have had to deal with Afganistan, Pakistan, the Taliban. All that
crap that Russia USED to keep in check. Yeah,.....we won all that!
Not to mention all the nuclear hardware that is not unaccounted for
    that Russia has LOST!

    And why not?

The Russians have decommissioned nuclear submarines with live reactors, submerged in as little as 60-feet of water, corroding away, in commercial fishing zones! They have docked decommissioned submarines so hot, a Geiger counter goes nuts as you approach the pier!

The Russians have always been irresponsible with nuclear energy, and couldn't give a ratz azz about the environment, either.

If we can put some of their crap to good use, we're doing the world a favor! And why should we do everything for free? :dunno:

SO I guess we didn't win WW2 either. The Japanese were keeping SE Asia in check until we booted them out of there.

The Nazis had the Ruskies pretty well tied up as well.

What kind of pantywaists have a full security alert and lockdown for a couple of duck hunters?

Its not like its the first time duck hunters have ever hunted nearby. I'm thinking the head of security needs some remedial training.
