The first of the two attacks occurred at the subway station beneath the headquarters of the Russian equivalent of the FBI. Now, federal law enforcement in Russia is a very different concept than it is here (involving large doses of illegal arrests, "disappearing" dissidents, corruption on a scale unknown elsewhere, etc.). Still, many innocent people lost their lives in a terrible terrorist attack. That's a tragedy no matter where it happens.

    Moscow Metro explosions kill 25
At least 25 people are reported to have been killed in an explosion on the Metro system in central Moscow, with a second blast coming shortly afterwards.

The first blast happened at the city's central Lubyanka station, reports quoting security sources said.

A second explosion happened at the Park Kultury station, Russian news agency Tass reported.

Ten people were injured in the first blast, Tass said, quoting the emergencies ministry.

The number of casualties at the second blast is not yet clear.

A ministry spokeswoman said that at Lubyanka 14 people were killed in the train and 11 on the platform.

"The blast hit the second carriage of a metro train that stopped at Lubyanka, at 0756 (0356 GMT)," Irina Andrianova said.

"There was no fire. Rescuers of the Moscow emergencies department and firefighters are now working at the site," she added.

The headquarters of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), is located just above the station.

Yeah, I think the count is up to 37 now. Two female homicide bombers. It sucks, but this kind of thing will only continue.

Yes indeed. The dissolution of the USSR was the dissolution of the forces that held things together over there. Not that I am in favor of socialism by any means, (although that is moot considering). It is a lesson learned for over here for those who want to break up this country, if they will only listen.

Guys, stood on that very platform back in September when we were there adopting our daughter in Moscow. I feel very sad for the people affected there and I am pretty sure the Russians won't stand for that. Being there for awhile this past year they are a very proud people that I'm sure they will retaliate.

I hope the Russians will hit back with the righteous vengeance and fury that our leadership is lacking. Send in the Spetznaz and let them do what they do best. Lay waste to the mother****ers without mercy. Then detonate a few of those suitcase nukes that are just laying around for good measure to make sure the terrorists are atomized into the newly paved parking lot that used to be their base.

Target? How about just declare a hostile zone and everything in it is considered targets of opportunity? I'll vouch for that.

Heck, if Putin needs any 5.45mm ammo, I'll donate a case to the cause.
