Like most of us here I like 1911s. But, for some reason I have always wanted a Colt Officers ACP. I can't explain it, I just have always been fascinated with these little 1911s. I'm not looking to buy one right away but, I may at some point. So, what is good, bad, or, ugly about these little guys? Thanks in advance.

I prefer the CCO,.....basically a factory bilt pistol with an Officer's size frame & Commander slide.

The Officer Colts are becoming a bit rare, do mnot see them often.

The Officers ACP was rushed to market, IMO, but after a few hiccups, they got it right.

It is a nice size for a CCW, and there have been a few variants produced (Officers slide on full sized frame, Commanders slide on an Officers frame, etc.)

It's been reported that Dan Wesson is going to build an Officers-type pistol next year called the ECO.

Ok, you're crazy...nutty as a fruitcake.

And I'm with ya.

My Officer should arrive within a day or so.

I'm also going to try a SA Micro besides the Officers.

Might even try one of the Sig C3's or a Colt CCO if I can find a deal on a nice one.

They're interesting pistols for sure. I'm a little leary of 3" 1911's, however, due to their short recoil spring life and and overall tendency to be finicky. Overall, I think the CCO type makes more sense.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. BTW, congrats on yours.

I've thought about a CCO as well.

Although I they are not Colts, I own 2 (sold one) Defender sized 1911s and 1 Officer. Nothing but 100% reliability from all of them using any 230gr. ammo. I have large hands and the shorter grip still allows plenty of room for all of my fingers.
Good to know.

I had an out of the box 100% reliable Colt 1991 Officers Model for several years - the "ugly" parkerized one with huge honking block letter roll marks. I sold it when things were tight back in 2000 and have regretted it ever since. I'd buy another, but I have a Gen 3 G19 that pretty much filled that position eventually. If someone were to trade me even up, I'd go back in a second. That deal seems unlikely though.

P.S.- I'm one of those guys who didn't know they were "problem" guns or finicky when I bought it. Apparently that was a good thing as it never gave me the slightest trouble. I'd be somewhat leery of buying one now that I've read so much bad press on them. Nah, I'd still buy one.
The M1991 Officers seems very rare. Or, at least hard to find.

Thanks for the info guys. I figured a few of you would have some experience with them.

That DW might be interesting.

Good luck, they are definitely not common. I love them myself, it's why to my mind a mini 1911 must come with a 3.5" barrel, not the 3" ones common today.

I'd say it's very unlikely that you'll be replacing that particular Colt, unless of course Colt re-issues them, I'd buy two if they ever do.

No, they aren't common. But, if I keep my eyes open, I'll find a nice one eventually.

A Lolt Officer's ACP was my first 1911. It ran well. However, I now only buy 1911s with full size frames. Its just a personal preference.

I see them on Gunbroker fairly often in the $500~$600 range. Never more than a few on at any time though, and many have crappy modifications done to them.
Yeah, GB is the only place I have seen them.

I like the full size frames too. You defiantly have some beautiful ones bac.

There are two used Lightweight Officers ACP right now at Ron Peterson's gun shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
**** to far away.:faint:

I bought this 1985 Colt MkIV Officers ACP a few years ago. Nice little pistol.

Nice!
